if you guys want to get into some fast and fun koke fishing try to make it over to Colorados Blue Mesa in mid August. Blue Mesa gets 3 mill fry each complments of the CDOW roaring Judy Hatchery. Each year they truck a few thousand directly to the lake and stock them at an area called the bay of Chickens, theese fish then return to that area in august and stack up 80-100 feet down in 200' of water, find the school and vertical jig them and have a limit of 10 fish in 30-60 minutes. Bumper boat city but most people keep it enjoyable, fish run 18-20" 3-3.5lbs. fun time had by all

Took the Bait

Alright Bobco, Ya hooked me! My bride can't go, but she gave the thumbs-up for me and the dog to head down to BM next week for a Weds-Sut stint at Elk Creek. My sights are on the Bay of Chickens. Got my buzz bombs, kastmasters, shoepeg corn, downriggers, leadcore, flashers... just about everthing short of depth charges.

This is my first year back to Boat & Koke fishing since I was a kid about a hundred years ago and so far my success has been limited. I was down at BM in June and July with just moderate success. The water was low and pretty brown both visits. I'm hoping that now that the level is up and stabalized I will have some better luck. I'll take all the pointers I can get... I'll even consider painting my boat Flo-Pink or Chartreuse if somebody tells me it willl help me bring in the Koke.

it has been slow from all reports, no fish at the Iron works yet for mass jigging, Iola trolling has been best......RMT squids have been getting the job done trolling now avalible at both Marinas on Blue Mesa
