I went down to meet Berryessa Kid to fish The Berry. Up at 1:30AM, left at 2AM, met him at 3:30AM, launched a Capell Cove and lines in at 5:30AM. It started off windy then it calmed down to drop dead gorgeous with big fluffy clouds and calm seas. I brought my tunes and played the “Pede” mix, it was perfect, and contributed nicely to the Zen High of the day.
BK thought we had 10 LDR’s today, they were crazy. But we managed 10 in the box by 3PM. 1 at 18” 3 were at 17” and 3 at 16”. Arrived back in Truckee to a nice sunset. The big ones hit hard, like freight trains and peeled 100’ of line off before they started to give up the ghost. Amazing footballs with serious attitude and a fight that delighted my soul. My personal best kokes today. We worked hard for the fish but they came.
I took over 190 pics and vids, it turned out to be one of those Zen days. So this outing definitely deserved a video. I think we both caught an equal # of fish today which was cool.
A epic day with a great friend on an awesome boat playing with Psycho Kokes who peel line just like in your best dreams. The next day I canned the silver beauties so BK when you come up to the Pede next month you get 1/2 the yummies.
The videos tell the tale of the day, from location, depth, the legendary bell to the setups to the beauty that is Berryessa on a perfect dream day. When the 18”er hit it doubled and pumped my Vance’s spiral wrap over twice before it released and peeled line like it was going to spool me…..WOW. I was tingling all over my body.
