As many people in washington know, sockeye opened in baker lake saturday. Fishing has been hot and cold for people, but the last two mornings ive limited and lost quite a few also. Theres fish to be had, using pink hootchies (mini) behind dodgers. Theyve out 8000 in the lake and expect many more. Get out there!!!

Wow, nice fish. Doesn't look like life can get any better than that. How big are those sockeye? Enjoyed your report, thanks.

What is the Sockeye season there? The fish are gorgeous and so is the surroundings.

Fished Baker Saturday and went 1 for 3, using "0" silver dodger and 2" pink squid, 12" leader and got hits on the powerbait stuffed squid and just shrimp and krill gel. Trolling speed .9 to 1.1 down 30'. I let the rigs out 25' and later 40 to 50'. Any improvement ideas on leader length, speed, bait, ect would be appreciated. Fun fishery, beautiful scenery!

I use about 20 inches of leader behind same dodger. Also, i have been gettting 4 to 1 ratio on bites using mini sandshrimp tail behind JUST the blade of a wedding ring, 20 inches back. This is working better for me than squid by a lot, and i have got most fish 14-18 feet on the riggers. They just put almost double the amount of fish that were there in the last few days!

Awesome info! Thanks I will be fishing Baker next week as we are heading out to the coast for a little R&R (and surf perch fishing...)
