Spent a couple of days on Bear Lake recently. On Columbus Day I nailed into a nice 18lb lake trout and last Satureday Oct 15 a typical 5lb Cutthroat trout. The native cutts have to be released but hatchery raised cutts with the clipped fin behind the dorsel are considered keepers.

Bear Lake was hot in the month of September for the lakers. Fishing has slowed down somewhat but a few still showing up in the boats. Hoping to start seeing some Cutthroat action heat up soon.

Never fished Bear Lake but I hunted above the lake on the Idaho side 25 years ago & have always wanted to go back.

Now it looks like I could do a combo trip for Deer and Fishing! The fishing part sounds good so what about the deer hunting?

Thanks, Kokonuts

Oh man, don't tell me that. I wish I was going to be there this weekend. Dave is heading back to Sacramento saturday. We hit Bear yesterday 11-22-11with only a couple of cutts to the boat. Talked to a DNR rep and the Bear Lake Whitefish is getting into the position for there spawn. This should make the cutts a little more active. The die hards should be coming out of the woodwork now with the cold temps being here. I know of a good ice breaker that will keep a path cleared at the state park launch ramp at Garden City for those who want to continue fishing the lake in a boat. 101idea101
