Was at wickiup last weekend and happened upon crescent lake resort. Really cool spot! My girlfriend fell in love with it and luckily i found out it has big mackanaw. Not only that, shallow macks. Was wondering if its too late to target them shallow and wat lures to use. If there not shallow, how deep do they usually run? I know they run real deep, just need somewhere to start. Any techniques for the diferent depths they run would be appreciated!

I was introduced to Cresent last year at the Kokanee Tournament/Mackinaw feed on Kokanee I've had success trolling k- 15 quick fish wrapped with #$%^&. (you figure it out). Colored blue /purple dark colored they are a bottom feeder but at times are caught trolling and jigging/running about 5/10 ft off the bottom every known and then bouncing the bottom with your down rigger ball or attach a line with another weight approx five ft or so with another lighter weight could be like a 12 ounce sinker below your down rigger ball. Slow trolling speed same as for kokanee. They do run big state record came out of Odell/ run about 85 ft out behind the boat use a flasher some thing that has glow in the dark tape.6ft behind flasher to your lure. I've never fished for Macks in Cresent but have had good success at Odell I run 135 ft shelf like I explained at Odell.

Thanks for the heads up Mr. Mike. Glad to hear u had at least a little success at wickiup. 20" rainbow is still a trophy. Ive also heard from my brother in montana that they use cut bat trolled along the bottom. Any comments?

Well I/ve had great success pulling herring (firecrackers) 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 inch for land lock Chinook at detroit Res. They are very popular at Lake BillY Chinook for bull trout. Red Label (5 TO 6 INCH) would also work for Macks either whole or Plug cut exact same way you fish for Salmon Using two poles one with a lure the other with bait will work just fine.
