It was very blue when it came in, This photo was after he rode in the live well awhile. "My wife wanted to let him go" I caught several more all 18" or over and all had blue backs coming in. I don't claim to be an expert though, I know there are Koho in there but am pretty sure these were Koke.

What was the color of the meat when you cleaned these fish?

It was a medium orange, and it was tight made a nice fillet. Not a real bright orange but was not mushy at all.

"WOW" JTM, That is one nice Kokanee, I have been looking for a post from Cascade on the Kokanee fishing, and yours is a great one. Have never been Cascade, but a friend is the Campground Host at Blue Heron, and would like to make the trip while he is there. Have you been using downriggers, and have you been locating them with your fishfinder, also what is the general area you are fishing upper end, lower end, or middle? I don't want you to give out any of you secret information, but any information would help. I am pretty much a novice Kokanee fisher, my wife and I live along the river in Hell's Canyon and we do most of our fishing here in the river.
I hate to post depth's and such on a broad scale, but if you P.M. me I will give you the skinny.
