Yeah it has been kinda quiet around here lately!!! So I thought I post up a recent pic. Since we pretty much had very little rain for our early fall salmon fisheries the season on the saltwater was exceptional. But in turn made late fall salmon fishing in the rivers a bit tougher, throw in a few monsoons, and some flooding to boot. Well, you had to pick and choose your days to wet a line. Been I've lucky enough and rather fortunate to get my share of salmon this season, as my smoker has been going seems like 24/7 preparing smoked salmon my wife likes to give away as Christmas gifts.
But since the first day of winter is next week, I thought I'd get out after my namesake the "winter run" steelhead!!! Again, having to deal with high water situations, but was relieved to see the river of choice was on the drop!!! For the OP I like to fish all the rivers on the drop!!! The water was still just a tad high, but visabilty was money!!! It was still a tough go, I fished pretty much all day, but scratched out my first two winter run steelhead of the season!!!
There's 52 weekends in a year, and I try to fish each and every one of them. But I had unfortunately wasted one Dec 2nd and 3rd 2012 (noted in my fishing log) staying home because of high water. Never again!!! Hope you folks get a chance to wet a line real soon!!! If I don't post on here anytime soon, I probably have on another one of the other fishing boards!!!
Have a Great Christmas,
Winterun
