Thanks for your report! I second your wish that the weather will allow another trip or 2. Good luck and tight lines.

Sturgeon8r,
Sounds like you are getting LP figured out. Your smoker must be running 24/7 in order to keep up with all the fish you are catching. Hope the weather will let you get a few more trips in before the hard water comes.

that's great sturgeon8r, i just finished winterizing my boat last night (threats from the wife about having the garage back for the winter were escalating and the diagonally-parked boat has been taking up the garage long enough), can't wait to get out in march or april, in the meantime i'll live vicariously through you and any of the other hardcore idaho kokanee fishermen/fisherwomen
i've got a few buddies at work that i've kicked around some ideas with about having a small informal kokanee fishing tournament with in the spring (either on LP or AR), if you or any others here on KFF are interested let me know, if everyone would be willing to kick in a few bucks or have a few prizes for something like heaviest koke, heaviest limit, etc. i think it would be a good way to use up a Saturday and have some fun, i make my own lures and i'd be willing to donate a bunch to the cause also as prizes / participation hand-outs, if anyone on KFF has tried a southern idaho kokanee tournament i'd like to hear some ideas or thoughts about it
keep posting sturgeon8r, you appear to be the only one still fishing and i'm glad someone up there is keeping those tricky fish honest and on the run, can't wait for all those 16"+ fish in the spring to be on my bbq

I think you sold some to my Buddy. And I think I am using one of your willow leaf trolls? 3 inch blades. 5 of them on a 30 inch length? green beads. If so it is my fav!!!!!!!!

Ok so we get all the way up to LP. and realized we forgot the corn, and a tackle box with Gulps in it. So first I want to thank the gentleman in the Alaskan boat fishing up there today. He gave us about 1/3 of a jar of Gulps. THANK YOU AGAIN VERY MUCH...... Ok so now on to the report. Fishing was slow :) we only boated 13 Kokes. 6-7 trout. and lost countless other trout/kokes. Met Kodiak and his wife today. They started late. Fish were in 12 to 20 foot. Same green with willow leaf. the longline rod caught only trout. fished from about 9 am to 1:30 ish

I was fishing with Sturgeon8r today. Want to also thank the gentleman who gave us the "maggots". Saved the day. Also great to place a face to a name with Kodiak. He was a great help to my wife and I when we first discovered this addicting sport of chasing Kokes! It's wonderful to run into so many helpful folks. Great community.

Best part of the day was we got to meet Conservationist and Sturgeon8r today. Great guys. As stated above, we got a real late start and when we hit the water it was slow. But, it ended up crazy fast! Ater you guys left, it got crazy. A pair of doubles and even though we had our share of long line releases, we limited out fast. Sturg. and Cons., we picked them up about where you got your last fish and we lost one at the same time. The school was real tight, but once you found 'em, it was lights out. They slowly moved west, and we followed them down by the docks. Every one at 20'. May be on to something. We gave up on our lead line with a hoochie; never had a bite. The other two rigs on the dr's had identical wedding rings, the ones with red and green beads, with the exception that one had double hooks, and the other had a single hook. The double hooks lost fish after fish, but the single landed a high percentage, due to the fact that they were taking it real deep. Of course, this could be coincidence, but I am going to play around with it in the future. Again, nice to meet you and hope to see you out there in the future. P.S.: your boat would be perfect for salmon fishing out at Sekiu, where we go every summer.

Beautiful morning. wind blew for about 2 hrs. SUNNY, WARM>>>>>>> Oh yeah and we caught LOTS of fish. Boated around 12 trout. (found that school) Ended with 12 Kokes but it took longer today. The school is getting smaller :) The sun get higher in the sky fish went deeper. Hey Mike you fishing Sunday or Monday?
The jet skiers showed up as we were pulling out today. fished ranged for 10 to 225 feet today? They liked my red corn Magot combi meal.

Sure thought about it, but we're heading up to Cascade tomorrow AM to try bank fishing for a lunker trout or two. I don't have high hopes! If I switched to maggots, I would end up having to bait every hook! Or find another fishing partner!! Yeah, you are doing some serious damage to that school. Mike

Has anyone been fishing @ LP recently? Was wondering if there is enough water to put in now? Thanks

Badlander, Have been fishing 3-4 times in the last 10 days. Plenty of water to put boat in at Spring Shores. See the last 18 posts?

I'll start a thread in the in the general fishing discussion section where we can all kick some ideas around about having a 2014 kokanee tournament, I'll title it "Idaho Kokanee Tournament"

OK so went 1 more time in Nov. SCRATCHED together 6 kokes. 5 trouts. Released trout. the fish were way deeper and fewer. I am seeing the schools are lots smaller and on the move. I might just be done for the year? :) well maybe November. If I go in December I will have to take rock salt for the launch.

Maybe they are beginning to head towards the dam, as they seem to do in the winter. Perhaps the fact that they are still dropping the reservoir might have an impact. Or, maybe it was just one of those days!! Well, that's kokanee fishing......always having to rediscover the secrets. Mike

We've been out the last two Sundays and caught a few each time, along with some trout. They were biting better on the 17th and mostly right around the dam just like kodiak1 suggested above.
The dam blow holes were open both times we were up there, so not sure how long the lake will have enough water to fish... might be full on duck season now 101cheers101

Put in today at spring shores caught our limits of kokes and 10 trout all were landed within sight of the boat ramp.
Green sling blades with green w.r. At 15-20 ft once we found them it was fast and furious with doubles a couples times.672672967308

Way to go. You know, I never combine wedding rings w/ sling blades.....don't know why. I always match the s.b.'s with hoochies, and w. r.'s with pop gear. I'm going to have to give that a try. Bet you pretty much had the reservoir to yourself. Mike

I saw the sling blade w.r combo in a picture on the Oregon forum over a year ago I tried it at arrowrock last year and it has become one our most consistent producers . The green colors I learned on this forum Thankyou all very much! Also gulp maggots out fished corn by 2-1 also learned here. We put in early and only one other boat was out then, but by noon there was ten or more.
Thanks again for all the great reports thru the year!
