Sorry this report is so late but been busy with work and just getting back from Las Vegas for a fishing tackle industry show called ICAST. So not too many details other than it was tough fishing, windy the whole time, some days the swells were 6' at 5-6 second intervals, and with the wind in the evenings put about a 1 1/2' wind chop on top!!! But you gotta love Sekiu when the fish are biting, just got lucky I guess!!! Some folks had a tougher go at it as some came back to the docks blanked or with barley legal fish 22"ers... Like, all fishing trips the big one gets away, and this one was no exception having lost a BIG one!!! But I redeemed myself the following morning having the opportunity to fight a beautiful Chinook which was caught and released a 25# maybe 26# wild fish, did I mention I love this place!!! I can't remember the counts for this years trip, I'd have to go back to check my fishing log, but it fell short of years past, but between my fishing partner and I we hooked a scant 38 Chinook. As I thought we were a bit early for this years runs and it was confirmed as the last day folks were coming to the docks with limits at Van Ripers and weighing in fish up to 25#'s as I was washing my boat off to leave!!! I think I have my pics in days order, as the last day no grip and grin shots, had to check out, clean and fillet these Chinook along with 6 seabass. Did I mention we had a friendly competition called the Sekiu Sea Bass Master Classic, fun times!!!
Until next year!!
