  • hey mark saw your post on siwash hooks and it got me to thinking I hope I didnt send you spoons with red hooks if so those were some of the first proto- type and not many were put together I use mustad #6 siwash on the spoons and have some if you need and have 5000 on order and will be talking to my mustad rep tomorrow thanks Art
hey trollmonkey my name is art pearce I am the owner of kokanee creek tackle co. the thread of spoons came up again and sounds like you like to fish them several guys on this forum and on big fish tackle have helped out with our new spoon that we will release this summer they are a small spoon 1 3/8 in. in lenght with a ultra violet coating and like our spinners have glow particals in the splatter (SPLATTER SPOON) if this sounds like something you would like to try P.M. me with your address and I'll send ya a couple no charge thanks ART
H sounds like you are well equipped. We have added three UL (4-10lbs)rods to our aresenal,it is a blast to hook any size fish on these sticks, but I am wondering how it will go with a five plus pounder. With hooks I like singles for solid hookups and easier releases. What gets me are the days when half or more hookups come loose.I found a way to beat this, just plan to release everything. That way it only hurts a little to lose one or twenty.
TM, I have two Okuma line counters and two AbuGarcia . I am very lite drag with the awareness of soft mouths . Always try to keep the fish from jumping ( can't stop it sometime}. Rod is a 6'-6" texas popping stick. Yeah I never have heard of one either. Rod is very flexible and fights fish well.I have been at Jocassee alot and have caught plenty of fish. I have lost 2 out of 10 which is not that bad. Just wanted to make sure the trebles would not help.THanks H
Harpoon we use singles or a double hook set up,haven't used trebles. The silver heatherns are bad to pull off,I've read landing 50% of your hookups is about average. What rod and reel setup are you using?
TM, I have been trying to fine tune my Kokanee lures on Jocassee and am noticing alot of lost fish do to the two hook set up on my K rigs. Have you tied trebles on instead? I caught a bow the last time I wen't to Nat . It was salmon pink. This leads me to believe the silver beast I had on the wee k prior was a Kok.I lost it witha double hook rig. Just wondering about the treble. Thanks H
TM , how did your trip go to Calderwood, Watauga is another great destination for lakers.BG
Headed to Calderwood Lake in the morning on our spring three day trip. We usually get brookies, rainbows and a few browns,TN stocked lakers afew years back but we haven't caught any yet.
Hey TM, I checked out your bear lake on the net and noticed it has walleye. I have a lake in SC that has a number of walleye in it. Just wanted to know if you have had luck with the spring run? I went last year and saw them on the bottom but could not get them to bite. thanks BG
50 tommorrow, ouch seems scary. Been deep trolling since 78.Began refining my techniques 15 or so years ago then 5-6 years ago picked up some new stuff from Seps, Mark Wiza articles and some western forums.I got hooked on kokes in 06,can't believe it took me so long.
