    first time at the berry

My buddy and I were trolling at 1.5 to 1.7mph 3oz keel weights back 70 to 100ft. Caught some bows, two cutts and the Kokes on same rigs - pink Apex tipped with maggots and a pink/white spinner I made hyper plaid and pink/silver dodgers in the hour I fished on the Soldier side. Spent way more...

    first time at the berry

Has slowed down for Kokes at least last Friday. Caught two at 45 to 50ft one on a keel weight line. I'd suggest Soldier Creek side with that boat. Fish west side south from marina to the narrows. Early AM better. Should find a few Kokes willing to play. For sure the Cutts will be around. Caught...

    The Berry 7-16-2014

By the background I can see you found the fishing spot I favor. Nice cutt by the way.

    Strawberry 7/10

would like to but out of the state that weekend for my spouse's family reunion. that got planned a year ago and it is a "must do and don't even think of fishing that weekend" thing.

    Strawberry 7/10

I wish I had brought the camera. Thought about taking them home without cleaning them for pics but didn't. Would have to deal with the stink in my garbage can for the rest of the summer. The biggest Kokes I've seen out of the Berry. One at 18" another at 19" the last two at 20" and they were...

    Strawberry 7/10

Had to try out some of the koke flies I've been tying so headed to the Berry. On the water about 7, limit of kokes in the boat by 10:30 plus the usual assortment of cutts and one nice rainbow. Had a few come unbuttoned on the way to the boat as well. Caught the trout on an orange/pink marabou...

    Kokanee Flies

Some examples of what I have tied. The cones help keep the marabou fluffed. Don't add much weight but you can cast them with a fly rod.

    Kokanee Flies

Been tying tube flies for some time now. The advantages are exactly as described. Ball point pen tubes, coffee straws, QTips (break off the cotton ) all work. Spend a little extra for tubes made specifically for flies and you can get all sorts of sparkly colors. As far as materials, marabou has...

First trip to FG Aug 3 - staying UT side. Need a bit of direction

Caught 4 lost twice as many. All before 10am then wind kicked up a notch and fishing just slowed - couple of bites an hour but very light hits. Another boat near us was doing very well - they landed over a dozen. Seemed the flasher/dodger color of the day was copper. No rainbows or lakers. Not...

First trip to FG Aug 3 - staying UT side. Need a bit of direction

Would you fish out of Lucerne Valley, Sheep Creek or Dutch John area?? Targeting Kokes but a laker or two would be nice. I have all the gear- downriggers and way too many dodgers, flashers and so forth - for both just haven't ever been to the Gorge. The other boat mates on this trip don't want...
