21' but I compromised a bit on the hardtop. I had enough counsel that a hardtop would cook us out of the boat so went with a permanent welded roof frame with canvas.

My next season will start with a new ride. I decided to jump on the Covid bandwagon of buyers and ordered a new boat. Currently going through the agonizing wait for it to get rigged so that I can bring it home.

Both the boat and 5th wheel are home from our summer at the Gorge and even though it was one of the toughest seasons in memory, I'm already anxiously awaiting next season. Like Roger, East Canyon and Bear Lake in the next couple of months until things start to get icy.

Karen and I got lost up there one trip and ended up on the goat road to Hell. It was barely as wide as my truck with a 1000' cliff next to us and smoke was rolling off my brakes like a burn pile.

Almost a repeat performance today if we could have gotten the fish in the boat early but a lot hook spitters today. However, we did get some pigs.

We had lines in the water by 6:00 a.m. and limits plus a bonus Bow by 7:30. We started fishing right out in front of Buckboard and fish were primarily stacked between 35’ to 40’. As is my norm, I had a variety of colors down to start and they all caught a couple fish.

"Not very good" at the Gorge still beats the heck out of a lot of other places. For us, daily catch numbers are WAY down and some days we have had our ass handed to us. There are still quality fish being caught, we have just had to work a heck of a lot harder this year it seems.

My gunnel tray is a disaster at the end of every day with lures and dodgers. And once you find something that semi works that day, getting it to repeat the next day is rare. We only have a couple weeks left in our season up there.

It has been a strange year up there all around. I don't think that I have caught a single fish this summer on a billed squid where normally there are days that all 4 rods have one on.
