Keeping my eyes peeled for clearance sales already. I found some gold dodgers in the clearance box at Sportsman's Warehouse. I also bought a new spool of leader material for my Winter busy work.
Downrigger brands can get to be Ford/Chevy debates pretty quick just like boat and motor brands. What was it about Big Jon that attracted you? My personal opinion, which means nothing, is they are uglier than sin. But the bottom line is they will be a huge improvement over manuals.
I think a guy really has to work at it to not have a good time at the Gorge. This season was certainly different and not the best we’ve ever experienced but a great time with friends and family nonetheless.
Gulp nuggets are a dough bait and meant to dissolve. As the name is crappie nuggets they are essentially like trout power bait. IMO, the maggots are much longer lasting on the troll. I occasionally use them to hold my corn on longer.
The only one rod catches fish phenomenon caused me to make a rule for anyone that fishes on my boat. We alternate reeling in fish no matter what rod it comes on. Everyone deserves to have a good time.
Thanks Don, I know you have some good ones of your own. An edit to the recipe is I've switched from the saltines to Ritz for a little butterier flavor.
Finished my season up there the end of last week. I've got lots of Kokanee to can and smoke. The way my tackle bag looks, might take me until next season to get it all organized again.
Last night I wrote a long detailed report just to have the KFF server puke on me. The short version is the last 2 days have been brutally tough. Water temp crested 70 degrees yesterday.
Thanks for the report. Water temps are finally climbing to the point that releases are difficult. The unstable weather this summer sure has been weird also. The freezer has room for a few more fish and then it will be time to get the canner out and get to work.
