Taking my daughter-in-law and granddaughter tomorrow. Really want them to catch a few fish. Trying to decide between LP and AR. Has anyone fished AR in the last week or so? What area? Any good?
Yes, I got a limit on Friday. In about an hour an an half. When I got home my wife asked me what was wrong. I don't often see action that is that fast.
I make a small three bladed troll, a snubber, and a lure. The spinner I make has a single j-style hook. The fly I make has tandem j-style hooks. (I know, using j-style hooks probably makes me old fashioned.) And to start another controversy, I use #8 hooks. I seem to lose more fish with...
The party boat launched just ahead of me. I have a 12 foot Valco with an 8 horse motor. There were very few boats on the water both times this week. I did enjoy the lack of company. I bought the sling blades from Kokanee Tackle last spring and just hadn't gotten around to trying them. With...
I was able to go again today. I did well, but it took just a bit longer. I was playing with some sling dodgers. They didn't produce as well as my small three bladed trolls.
Went to LP this morning. I got my limit between 9:30 and 12:30. They seemed to bite better when the smoke was thickest. The bite slowed as the smoke lifted. I put in at Spring Shores and went towards AR. The fish were all bright, between 12 and 13.5 inches, and appear to be next year's...
When I fished the first of the month, I started at Spring Shores and trolled towards the dam. When I got a hit or two I started doing circles in the area until the fish quit playing the game.
I usually troll with longline mono, banana weight, small three bladed troll, a snubber, some leader, and then the lure. I always use the snubber because I lose fewer fish. I've not used a down rigger, so someone else will have to give you that info.
You are right about it being a very good day. Weather was nice, wind was enough to keep a ripple on the water, skiers were considerate, my wife picked some huckleberries, and the fish were cooperative. The three kokanee were a little bigger than typical for Warm Lake. I released them to spawn...
I fished catch and release on Warm Lake on Aug 1. I boated 36 rainbows and 3 kokanee. I was able to release all of them, so I could fish longer. Hard to keep the rainbows off the kokanee lures. I would have had to quit in about a half hour if I'd been keeping the fish. And that was with...
I got my boat on the water about 9:30. Nothing until about 11:00, and then I was done by about 2:00. Five out of six were going to spawn this year. They were just starting to lose their scales. Once the scales are gone I prefer to let the fish do their thing. Although next year's spawners...
Limiting!! Just got back from getting my second limit this week on Lucky Peak. Most fish have been in the 12-14 inch range, but I got an 18 incher today. Remember when 16 to 18 was common? I wish...
I'm thinking about taking my granddaughter to AR on Monday. I have a small boat and motor, and once I commit to a part of a big body of water, there's not a lot of time to explore another part if I strike out on the first choice. I only get to take her once or twice a year, so I'd like for it...
I fished Deadwood on Wednesday, July 11. My wife and I got fish almost everywhere we trolled. Lots of small fish. We kept 20 that were between 10 and 12 inches with most going about 11. The road in from Cascade and Landmark was very rough. We were told the roads in from Stanley or from...
The fish on my recent trips have been about 12-13 inches with an occasional smaller fish. I've read the stories about the bigger ones on AR, but the rough road is a deterrent. I can have my line in the water in about an hour from home when I put in at Spring Shores. Being out and catching...
