    Merwin 2011

Fished Merwin yesterday. Got my lines in the water about 5:45. First bite around 7 which was a driveby. Next biter stuck but came off near the boat. First fish in the box around 7:15. Then about 8 and 8:30 were the next ones flopping on the deck. That was it for me. Fished until noon and then...

    Merwin 2011

Nice fish. I love it when you drop in to a wide open bite. 1 day last summer it was our turn. Once we came around the point into koke cove it was wfo. Twice we had doubles and put the motor in nuetral to fully enjoy the battle. 45 minutes later we were done. Hoping to get up there in the next...

    DR Flashers

Very cool.Crazy they would come that close to the motor. We've had a few fish follow a hooked fish within 15-20' of the boat. Hoping to get out Tuesday. Still lots of springers to come but the river is still on the rise. Time for some Merwin chromers.101chromefish101

    Lake Como

Never fished it. Have relatives in the area and they had mentioned that it had been planted with kokes a few times. They don't know anyone who has fished it for kokes. Didn't want to haul my boat over for nothing. They say Georgetown Lk is pretty good for kokes.

Matzou sickle vs. gama octopus hooks

I have used them both. I went back to only the Gami as I wasn't convinced that the sickle hook was any better. A fishing buddy likes to use drop shot hooks.2cents

    Ridgebackrattler downrigger weights

They actually make weights as light as 2lbs. I was interested in their claim that the "sonic trail" attracts fish. Some folks like using the "black box" to send an electical charge down their wires to attract fish. Just wondering if anyone has tried this on kokes. Already planning for next...

    Cannon HS downriggers

Cannon Have them turn the DR over and look at the base plate. Mine does say Easi-troll hs. Hope this helps. Either way they are a solid unit.

    Downriggers.. What do you reccomend?

Last year I bought an Attwood manual DR. Paid about $70 and it came with a 4.5lb weight and mounting bracket. I caught fish on it but it is a pain in the *** to operate. I guess I got what I paid for. I've read on the forums of guys breaking these entry level units. Next I bought a manual Cannon...

    GP:Maiden voyage

Going to try GP in the morning. Time to try some new water. If you see an open Willie Predator with a blue stripe doing a fire drill that will be me. Come on over and say hi. We're going to launch at Thistle Creek ramp.

    Chinook in Lake Merwin

I caught one last year. When I laid the net down in the boat I immediatelly noticed it looked different. It was a 16" football. Its the biggest fish I have caught in Merwin to date. I hear guys say they catch kokes up to 18" but I've never seen one. Our biggest koke this season from Merwin has...

    KoneZone Kokanee Lures

I'll have to go look for their koke stuff to try. I know around here during spring salmon season you couldn't hardly beg, borrow or steal one of their flashers. While I'm looking for the koke gear I'm gonna get a couple more flashers. Fall salmon fishing has started.101chromefish101

    New To Kokanee

Rolling Perhaps this will get the ball rolling. I would spool up my level wind with 15lb tuff line. 50-60yds is plenty of tuff ine. Put some heavier mono on first to build up the spool then the tuff line. You can either tie your beadchain and snap on at this point or put on about 5' of 8lb mono...

    Catch and release kokanee?

I'm all for catch and release as well as catch and eat. I've often wondered how many fish die after being released. The other day koke fishing the first 3 fish I caught were in the 10-12" range. When I saw the small size I knew I wanted to release them. However when I got them along side the...
