    Ahhh Hot Shower....

I haven't installed one of these in my camper, but I've installed similar units in houses about 4 times. Read the installation manual BEFORE you buy it. Sometimes, these units require large flue pipes, unless it is direct-vented. Also, check dimensions. I don't think this would fit in my...

5 Nice Sailfish and a Marlin Fight March 7 Costa Rica Report with pics

What a day! It sounds like a day most fishermen only dream about! OUtstanding! I've never caught a sail or marlin, but that story makes me drool!

Changing oil in an inboard motor.

A friend of mine uses a Super Sucker which goes through the dipstick. It looks like a garden bug sprayer. You pump up a bit of vacuum by hand pump and suck out the oil. Works fine.

    Moving a trailer axle

You can find the spot to place your axle by moving it and checking the tongue weight with a bathroom scale. This assumes that your axle/spring assembly is on a movable carriage that is u-bolted onto the frame. You might also be able to check planned placement using a couple of hydraulic...

    Justify $$$ for Pickup Campers

This is similar to the question: why do laptops cost more than desktop computers with the same performance. Answer is you are cramming a lot into a small container and it's more difficult to do that than if you have a lot of room.

    Who uses braid?

So, are there any tricks to use braid with down rigger releases? I've heard that it's not always easy.

    Gas prices, what's your plans???

Excellent point! I do this myself. Staying a few days instead of one helps. Eat a lot of fish, catch & release, put a couple limits in the camper freezer...all good ideas to keep the fuel consumption down and the enjoyment up!

Looking to replace my boat anchor

When two anchors are used in conjunction with each other, it's often effective. The official name for this is "mooring".

    Insurance?

I agree. Replacement value insurance is better because they have to use market rates for replacing your stuff. What gets you, no matter what the policy is the deductible. I have a $500 deductible, which still keeps me thinking about security.

Looking to replace my boat anchor

Here are some books from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_21?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=anchoring+and+mooring&sprefix=anchoring+and+mooring

    Smoker Craft...are they welded?

Yes, thanks, Guys...I did buy a welded boat. It's an interesting discussion here. I think one of the reasons that airplanes are put together with rivets is that sometimes mechanical or other work has to be done inside a wing or body panel, and removing rivets is a lot easier than cutting...

This may be a dumb question but...

That's one heck of a buy for $300. It looks like there are more than $300 worth of rollers on that trailer. As far as trolling goes, the cheapest way to go is to add a trolling plate to your I/O drive. Something like a Happy Troller should work.

Looking to replace my boat anchor

There are many different kinds of anchors and each excels at a particular type of anchoring. You might want to go to a marine store and look at their books. I bought one on the subject of anchoring once and it was a better read than you might guess. There are two concepts that stand out in my...

    Trolling Kokanee setup w/downriggers

I bought a couple of these reels last season: http://www.northwoodsoutlet.com/oscommerce/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=4098 I think they are a great buy for the money. The line counter feature really makes a big difference. It's better than counting line pulls all the time. I'd...

    mrmike

The test of any lure or dodger is "does it work". See the video here: http://www.shastatackle.com/ Those fish were all caught on UV dodgers. They are very effective in low-light situations, which was the case when I caught that 20lb Brown on one.

I think you have the priority wrong. Instead of "Hers too", how about "Mine Too".

    Downriggers on a Bass Boat?

Good point. Just remember...if you mount them forward, you will be increasing the chances of tangling with the main motor while you are letting your horizontal line out. Remember to keep the boat going straight while doing this until you get your lines down below the prop.

    Downriggers on a Bass Boat?

Welcome to the forum! I think the guys are silent on this question because it's kind of an odd one to ask. Most bass boats are made to go fast, not troll. So, if you have a bow trolling motor like a Minn Kota and a decent battery, you might be able to troll slow enough for Kokanee. I guess...

Need manual for 8hp Yam. kicker

Thanks, Guys! I called the Jetcraft company and talked with them about draining all the old fuel out of the tank. I still have about a half inch of it left. I liked their response. They suggested disconnecting the fuel line from the tank, attaching a temporary line to the fitting and running...
