Pictures of lures for insurance purposes?

I'd talk with the insurance agent and ask them the question. Video can be good for that as well.

    Converting jet outboard to prop

I didn't realize that...all the ones I've seen have been painted a different color than the engines they were on and seemed to be after-market add-ons.

    Converting jet outboard to prop

Thanks, guys...I just can't imagine where all those excess prop lower units end up. Don't all outboards come with one when new? If so, where to they go when the jet pump unit is put on?

    Converting jet outboard to prop

I'm looking at used boats and run into a lot of outboards with jet units on them. I might buy a boat with one of those if I could replace the jet with a prop lower unit. I had one guy tell me that it would cost about $1500 to make the switch. Does that sound right to you? It seems to me that...

    On selecting a tow vehicle

I just checked. The 4x4 Tacoma has a 6500lb. towing capacity. That's pretty hefty. What mileage do you get with the Tacoma?

    On selecting a tow vehicle

Hi Guys...Happy New Year! I'm considering a do-it-all vehicle. I have a couple of big trucks (F250 and F350 diesels). But fuel prices are killing my interest in driving them much. I'm considering a Honda Pilot or a Subaru Outback. The Pilot tows up to 4500 lbs and the Outback 3000 lbs. I'm...

    Shuttlehawk ?

You keep it from sliding all the way down to the ball by putting a stopper on the steel line where you want it to stop. I use the same plastic stoppers that I use on my Scotty electric downriggers to turn off the downriggers when they rewind.

    Fish Finder??

Welcome to the forum! You can learn a lot here. It's best to search previous postings first. The most popular fishfinders are Lowrance HDS series, Humminbird, Ray Marine and Furuno. You should be able to see these at your local dealer, or at an ISE show in your area. In fact, at ISE shows...

    Half Moon Bay Crabbing 11-24-10

Great video, HiTech. I love the way you just get it done, and then share it with us.

Does a boat have to have a Coast Guard plate?

The Coast Guard Regs I linked to in my previous posts does state that any boat under 20ft. must have one of those plates affixed. It doesn't say how you get one if your boat doesn't have one or it somehow got lost. There are also a lot of boats out there that were made by manufacturers who...

Does a boat have to have a Coast Guard plate?

Thanks, guys. For anyone interested, there's a Coast Guard Pub at http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/education_safety/safety/boatwater/backyardboatbuilders.pdf I just found it. This has all the requirements for backyard boat builders. It says all boats under 20 ft. must have a USCG capacity plate...

Does a boat have to have a Coast Guard plate?

I have a line on a boat without a Coast Guard plate. Not sure what that means. Brand is Delta. Is it the law that all boats must have a plate? If I buy the boat, how can I get one? Thanks for any help!

    Fuel System Corrosion

Hi there Smoke, I know a little about this, but don't live in a harsh environment like you do. Stabil is good stuff. I use it in any gas I'm going to store for awhile. I empty my boat cans into the car after every trip, so I'm not storing too much. (Note that I am putting in pure gas, not...

    New Product

Mr. HiTech coached me early on the Tica reels. I bought a Daiwa 17 for my wife, and she loves the line counter. I used the Okuma a couple times last season and I have to admit the line counter is seductive. Counting line pulls is just one more onerous thing to do, and the line counter removes...

    New Product

You will find a lot of guys on this forum who are using Ticas...they are very nice reels. The only drawback to them is the lack of a line counter that you can get on some other brands. There have been rumors that they were going to come out with a line counter, but nothing has happened in a...

Best line for bait casting reel

Not true. My Okuma 15 MX is the same size as my Ticas, with a line counter on top that makes it a LITTLE taller. http://www.northwoodsoutlet.com/oscommerce/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=4098

In the news...one crabber dies off Half Moon Bay

Just saw this in the last couple days. 5 guys in a 21 foot boat with the goal of crabbing. One of the crab pot lines got tangled in the prop, a large wave capsized the boat. Gail force winds, high seas....
