Its Here!! My Prayers are Answered!!!

I bought a couple of these Okuma reels last season: http://www.northwoodsoutlet.com/oscommerce/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=4098 Not a bad real for a great price. And there is a clicker.

    Colored Downrigger weights

You can use the analogy if you like, but you would have to test it out. I think you would get some funny looks from your fishing buddies wearing a glow-in-the-dark condom on a pre-dawn fishing trip. The proof would be if you come back to the dock with more women than fish...tooexcited.

    Colored Downrigger weights

I think painting down-rigger weights various colors catches more fish just like buying colored condoms gets you more women...

    Here we go again

Yup! When crude goes up, diesel prices rise quickly. When crude goes down, the prices come down VERY slowly. Also, when prices go up, more of us honest guys get our fuel siphoned by midnight visitors. I think it's really bad when prices go up when the economy is in the tank.

    Downrigger weight selection

We were operating hydraulic Gurdies. The captain did use float bags sometimes, I think on the front lines, but I don't remember if he changed the weights when he did that.

    Downrigger weight selection

When I did commercial salmon fishing for a very short time, we used our heaviest weights on the front riggers and the lighter ones in the back. This helped keep the lines from tangling. Of course, the front lines were also kept far out to the side of the boat...much further than our dinky...

    Cannon Mini Mag DR Manual?

I'm not sure if that makes sense. I have a 10amp fuse in each line close to the + side of the battery. What good would a 30amp do beyond that? I've never heard of two fuses/breakers being used in series.

    Cannon Mini Mag DR Manual?

Hmm...my Scotty 1106 riggers are 10A. I wonder why the difference.

You know you are getting old when....

You know you're getting old When you troll for an hour with hook-protectors on your lure. When you travel most of the way down the lake before you remember the bait is still in the truck. When you forget to put the lanyard key on the engine stop switch and crank it for awhile before...

    Kill Bags for Kokanee

Yes, I know what you mean by having too many coolers and other paraphernalia in the boat. They do make insulated large bags...double walled with air in the middle...for keeping beer cool. One thing you might check is the size of your coolers. Are they too large for your purpose? I downsized...

Anchoring, Sturgeon Fishing, Boat Launching and Bikini Watching

Let's see...should I install one of these anchor retrievers or get three bikini-clad ladies on board to pull the anchor? 101juggle101 I could use the gals for a fishing competition and troll around the fleet. No one would catch any fish but me because they'd all be gawking instead of...

Need coaching on another boat selection

What about parking these boats on a beach? I'm figuring out that you are 100% right. Also, I like to park my boat on a beach over night, and usually koke fish for several days. That's because it takes me awhile to get a couple limits. So, the question of launching from the beach comes to...

    What's Up at the Gorge

Catch those Burbot! After reading about them (never having seen one), it seems like every Koke fisherman ought to be ridding the lakes of those things.

    Paulina 9/25

As usual, SB, your posts are full of useful information. Now all I need is a Lake Paulina nearby. thumbsup We have Lake Berryessa about 3 hours away, though. I think one of the things you guys have going for you in the Northwest is the number of kokes you are allowed to catch per day. That...

Anchoring, Sturgeon Fishing, Boat Launching and Bikini Watching

Thanks, Guys, for your insight into this anchoring system. I had never heard of it before. (I guess that means I should get out more...at least that's what I'll tell the wife). As usual, I learn a lot here. Jim, I haven't found a "new to me" boat yet, though I've only looked at a couple...
