Man you did way better then me too. Every person I talked to had none or one. I ended up with nine Saturday and lost eight on Sunday before I finally landed three. All of the fish were 14" except one fat 18".

Did u happen to hear if the kokes filling up on the plankton shutting off the bite? I've heard they're still doing fairly well. With white and orange being the go to colors.

    2013 Wickiup Reservoir Thread

If it was a black coon hound by the launch east of gull point that was definitely me. Little turd chewed through her leash the first night so I had to use my lead for my boat as a make shift leash while I used the restroom. Had her tied up outside the fish cleaning station as well while I...

    2013 Wickiup Reservoir Thread

That chop really helped the afternoon bite on opening day. I'll be up there memorial weekend as well. If anybody sees me feel free to come say hi. I'd love to trade tips with my fellow koke heads. I'll be in the green StarCraft with the hound and my silver ford with the funny looking red...

    2013 Wickiup Reservoir Thread

Finished with ten, just me and my hound and lost just as many. Biggest was 17" and only caught one all day under 13". Great opening day! Fish were real fiesty. All my fish were caught on riggers at five feet for the rediculously hot morning bite and after 10:00 found them at 10-27'. Wind was...

Finished with ten. Just me and my hound.Lost as many. Morning bite was the best ive ever seen. Biggest ran 17" and not one fish under 13"!!! Fish were great fighters! I'm going back in June for sure. Only draw back is I'm sure I lost the fish of a lifetime. Got it to the boat. Got a good look at...

    trolling plate

My boat trolls at the same 2.5 and yes waaaaay too fast for kokes. IMO. I have a happy troll plate on it and when its down it slows me to .8 and that's going with the wind. They work great. Only problem if u couldn't tell is .8 is too slow so I have to throttle up a bit. Then when I flip into...

    kalispell mt kokanee lakes?

I was going to post this in the Montana kokanee section but it looks like there haven't been any posts since last year. Probably due to the snow and whatnot. But I am wondering about the lakes surrounding kalispell. I will be visiting my brother in July so should be a good time to hit the...

    Proper care for your catch?

Haven't had a problem yet even though I have been wrong before. Besides guys down in the keys have been doing it forever. Just my two cents

    Detroit Lake

Not worth fishing for kokes. IMHO. They're hard to find amongst all the trout and they run small. Ur better off heading just a little bit south to green peter. According to reports fishing is picking up

    Proper care for your catch?

I make sure I pour some of the lake water in the ice and make a slurry and make sure the fish are well buried. I've tried bleeding and not. Doesn't effect the flavor like it would bleeding a migratory fish imho. Clean at the launch back into the slurry and vacuum pack at home or camp

Important message for all new (and veteran) Kokanee information

Completely agree. People are all there and eager to get in the water. If someone's waiting put a little hustle in it. You'll get on the water faster I had a guy at an opener a couple weeks ago make me wait to take my boat out while he prepped and when he was done he picked up a cigar looked...

2013 Lake Billy Chinook Repot Thread

6:30-2:00 Sunday. Fishing was slow as everyone has said. No bulls for us. Hooked 10 kokes but lost all but 3. Did see guys at the dock with two keeper bulls. They caught five casting rapalas. Wind was heavy most of the day and the fish were scattered. Sun was out and it was beautiful!
