I had the 8hp Merc on my Lund. It was quiet and efficient. I put the Trollmaster remote throttle control on it though. That made life better. Trying to get it to the right speed and keep consistency is tough with a tiller handle.

The way the Lund is set up now I use the I-pilot 95 percent of the time. I use the kicker to help when it gets windy. The throttle control on the kicker made a huge difference as far as ease of use. I fished Chelan last year and needed the depth so I switched one to braided and kept one steel. I think I like the braided better. It is smoother and easier to work with. I can also fix any issues with a knife... If I have to replace the other down rigger I would most likely go to braid.

At the boat show in Seattle they said the Suzuki had a three year warranty and a "special" adding an additional 3 years. I don't know if it was offered by the dealer or the manufacturer. Extra 3 years would be nice.
