New boat finally done and did I catch a kokanee or trout?

That EGO is a great net. I also love a company that backs their product. They took care of me. I would buy from them again. If only lures had a guarantee. Ha!

How do you store your downriggers while traveling?

Lund, Thats a good idea. I tried folding them and putting them in a tote but I didn't like that a bit. The rolling idea sounds good. By the way, I just took 4 down riggers off and stuffed (gently with foam inserts) them into the tool box in the truck. They fit but that is a pain in the butt. I...

How do you store your downriggers while traveling?

Dfly, I saw your post when you first put it up. I think that is a good way to secure them for sure. I figured there had to be someone here smarter than me that thought of something better. I picked up a toolbox for the back of the truck that locks but it is a pain to remove everything from the...

How do you store your downriggers while traveling?

In the past I just put the Scotty locks on my downriggers and hoped no one would go through a lot of trouble to steal my downriggers. I later realized that the downrigger can be removed with one screw if someone knew what they were doing. I am now running four downriggers and the last thing I...

    Chelan 2014

This was on WA Lakes written by Dave Graybill. Makes me feel a little better. The “Something Catchy” Kokanee Derby at Lake Chelan was a success, with over 275 fish turned in. There were forty anglers in the derby this year, and they really got the fish. The winning team of Aaron Kelly and Dan...

    Chelan 2014

Has anyone gotten better reports on the Kokanee at Chelan? I am hoping that it has picked up a bit since my last trip.

Very clean work. I wish I had your skills Dfly.

Mounting a fish finder in the back of the boat?

Dfly, I looked at several different ways to mount the sonar and thought the same thing. This should cut the glare from the sunlight and also keep the rain off of it as much as possible. It is also tucked back enough that I can work at the cutting board without it getting bumped or covered in...

Mounting a fish finder in the back of the boat?

Today I mounted the rear station for the Garmin touch screen and a rail system from Miller Marine. This allowed a clean mount for the filet table and the rod holders at each side. I will test run it this weekend at Chelan.

Thanks for the suggestion Mike. Got it all ironed out. I will be bring my original fishing partner. I will see you there!

    Stacking set back distances?

When stacking I run the bottom line longer than the top to allow it to pass easier as it comes up. I also run one rod pointed to the rear of the boat and the other pointed to the side. My thought was that this would give an 8 foot separation without me having to really do anything. Unless...

    Chelan 2014

I lost my fishing partner for the WA Lakes fishing get together on Chelan first weekend in May. Is there anyone that is interested in going that needs a seat on a boat? Right now it is just me. If someone is interested I may still go. Otherwise I might pull out :( I was planning on getting...

    Finally got the new boat

Bogey, That is a sweet looking boat! I really like the colors of it. I agree with the others. That thing should jump with a 150. Lund makes an excellent quality boat. They put a lot of thought in how they put the boat together and they even prep them for future upgrades. The Lund also uses...

New boat finally done and did I catch a kokanee or trout?

The EGO net is a must have. They also stand behind their products. I had one that was not extending smoothly. Sent them an email asking if there were any known fixes. They sent me a new handle. No questions no hassle. I love that kind of service.

    Chelan 2014

Windy! Last day at Chelan. Only fished until around 11 then had to drive back to Bellingham. We scratched out 3 kokes today. Two between 17 and 18 inches one around 14. Super windy on the lake. No one was catching anything. Talked to a guide on the docks who said the same thing. If anyone is...

    Chelan 2014

Thanks for the update Mike. Today was the same. No one at the docks had anything to show. I fished until about 9am then changed gear and locations and started fishing for Macks. We stopped around 1pm with 16 fish. Turned out to be a good day but not with the kokes we were after. Hopefully it is...

    Chelan 2014

Thanks for the encouragement. Dfly, if you want to fish Chelan some time lets talk. Shorter trip for my boat than yours. I would enjoy taking you out sometime. I am sure I have a lot to learn. I am also getting to know the lake. If this year is as good as it is hyped up to be it would be worth...

    Chelan 2014

Today on Chelan was a little better. We picked up two kokes. One was just shy of 18 inches the other about 14ish. We also hooked into a 10 pound laker. That's our biggest laker so far and very happy to have gotten him on the new boat. At the ramp everyone was saying the fishing is slow. Trout...

    Chelan 2014

Chelan has been a little slow the last two days. The first day I got out and had to figure out lots of new things on the new boat. Made for a slow start. I tried to take it easy and get things ironed out with the boat rather than half assing it and trying to fish. First fish on the boat was a...
