    Question for the Trollmaster experts!!

New goodies are showing up everyday getting me excited. New downriggers last night. Should get the new Garmin fish finder today. Mounts tomorrow. Black box for the Garmin after that... Got word today (again) the dealer is behind and I will NOT get my boat tomorrow as planned. So excited is...

    Question for the Trollmaster experts!!

Bogey, The only thing she will need to worry about is the knob that controls the speed. The other two buttons on the PRO3 are flat. Unless she was really confused (inebriated) it wouldn't be an issue. It is an easy system to figure out. It works great for Kokes too.

Mounting a fish finder in the back of the boat?

I ordered the Garmin touch screen. I will let you know how it works out. Gamin Echomap 70DV

    new boat

I recently posted the same type of question. Search "which boat would you buy". I think we had a pretty thorough discussion about boats for this area. We touched on several aspects that might steer you in a good direction. There is no such thing as the perfect boat. You just have to figure out...

Mounting a fish finder in the back of the boat?

I think I am going to have to contact the manufacturers at this point to try to iron this out. I like the idea of the Garmin with CHIRP technology. I have a feeling that it transmits its signal across several bands simultaneously, and would almost certainly interfere with the Humminbird. I...

Mounting a fish finder in the back of the boat?

Guess we are all stumped... Here is what I found out today... I went to the dealer outfitting my boat (slowly). I think I might know more about electronics than them. The guy I am dealing with said he has a forward facing FF on his boat. Doesn't know how to make it read correctly. He just knows...

Mounting a fish finder in the back of the boat?

SuperD, your picture is basically what I am thinking. Right in front of the motor (more or less). I have a big screen Humminbird 1198si. I know I can add another HB and network them together. I could even share the transducer. But the rear FF will be facing 180 degrees the other way. Left won't...

Mounting a fish finder in the back of the boat?

Has anyone mounted a fish finder in the back (aft) of the boat facing forward? Reason I ask... I spent the last two summers with a kink in my neck looking at the FF mounted at the helm. Has anyone mounted one that is placed so you can see it while watching your down riggers? If so, is there a...

    Which boat would you buy?

You would think that the dealer would have done a little more research before going to the "BOAT SHOW" and selling someone on a new product. Aside from the delay in getting the boat waiting for the EFI motor to come in... Now I don't even get it. Thinking positive. It is still a good motor...

Thanks for the heads up! Looking forward to Chelan this year.

    Which boat would you buy?

I bet Garmin is working on updates like the NMEA 2000 connections as well as the new EFI's. Otherwise they will be left behind. I know how much I like the I Pilot. I would never go without it. I really want the TR1 this time. Enough to deal with a carb... Not happy but that is what it is going...

    Which boat would you buy?

Gotta snag in the boat build... The EFI Suzuki kicker finally came in. Garmin does not make an adapter for the TR1. Dealer got the kit for the latest year model "or newer" Suzuki but it is different. They called Garmin. No fix. Could be several months until they even make one. Choices are to...

Storage...Lets see what you've come up with

I kinda like the dodger box idea! I may have to try that. Since my boat is still being outfitted I took advantage of the open garage and cleaned and organized. Two days of cleaning!

    After the catch

On my Lund I had a live well. I would just throw them in there and keep the water circulating until it was bonking time. I would keep an eye on them and if one was a quitter I would bleed it and throw it back in. I would clean this fish before heading home and throw the bag of filets back in the...

Double hooks on wedding ring rigs?

I almost always run double hooks. Sometimes if the fish are skittish I will only use a single but that is not very often and usually early in the season. I have also run a treble as the trailing hook if I am losing a bunch at the boat and getting ticked but not very often.

adjustable line release / cable terminator combo from Walker

The pressure from loading your rod and the pressure it takes to make the line release are two separate adjustments. The release end that the fish is pulling on is done with a magnet. You have a set screw that adjusts how far the magnet is away from the interior metal piece that it is attracted...

adjustable line release / cable terminator combo from Walker

You will be happy with the Chamberlains. They can take a couple times down in the water to get the tension right but once you do they are right every time. You won't be dragging around little planter trout wasting time and they won't be false releasing like the pinch clips. I might be...
