    Can't wait to get out!

Hmmmm - I'm with kokonuts. I've been debating making a trip up there based on you Northern boys reports. I'm just about goofy enough to drive two hours to catch 3-6 inch bigger fish! Don't worry I won't increase the traffic on your lake. I'd only make two trips tops for the year.

    Downriggers on a Bass Boat?

I grew up on bass boats back East and my Dad had one mounted on his glass boat for walleye fishing (I can't remember what kind of boat that was but it was a glass "glitter boat" as I call them). You do have to look for a decent flat spot on the deck near the transom and then put a good size...

    Tica Reels

Ran two tica caimans last year after getting a great deal on them at the sportsman show. Great little reels. My wife likes having the reel on right side so I needed another one. I couldn't find the CM anywhere so I ended up buying the kokanee special at not such a great deal. Still a very...

    Super Bowl Predictions

Although it pains me deeply to see my home team eat like that - it was a well deserved win by the Packers. It was painful to watch. I'm honestly surprised those cheese heads didn't whoop their butts more in the score. You just can't turn the ball over 3 times resulting in points and expect...

    Lowrance HDS Fish Arches

I have the HDS 8 as a new unit on my rig and experienced the same thing. I saw so many fish in the water the first time out I figured I would drop the anchor to 30 feet and drive around to knock them out! I decreased my sensitivity to -5% and this seems to have helped a bit. Out last week and...

    Using red for Kokes?

I'm with 3Ms - I normally start having better luck with them later in the season (Julyish), but I have caught them on red earlier in the season as well. I'll normally start the season running mainly green but if I have another rod in the water I will running a green over red pattern just to...

    Outboard Motor security locks

While I don't disagree with some of the comments that if they want it they will get. I also agree with 3M - it's a layer of protection. I went with a Stazo motor lock. Had good reviews and very easy to instal. I need to add a better hitch lock for when it's parked in the driveway. I think...

    Debuting Dave's 2011 Spinners

Wow! Those are works of art. I've been tying a few over the weeks and have been satisfied with the results but mine aren't that sexy. I guess the kokes in California require a more attractive approach! My suggestion for #6 name is the "The Gremlin" Nice work

    Super Bowl Predictions

Ohhhh baby Pittsburgh raised for many years and still deep in my blood. Perhaps this song rings a bell from the 70's "We are the home of the super bowl team - here comes the PITTSBURGH STEELERS!!!" Pittsburgh 24 / Green Bay 17 Watch out for that steel curtain it hurts when they bring it...

    1-23-11 sammamish cuthroat

Good on you getting out there KOK head. I appreciate the pictures as I'm fighting this crappy flu and can't get out there with this mild weather!

Nicely done Kok head! I'm glad to see someone is getting some fish. Things are slow down here in SW Washington! 101goodpost101

    When

Looking at my log I started last year I apparently started in April on Merwin / Yale. This coincided to the Columbia River springer season turning into a no longer enjoyable to fish mad house! My start time will likely depend on the same thresh hold this year.

To skin or not to skin???

Apparently an old thread I missed. I have been smoking filleted with skin on but I'm intrigued by the skinless. My concern would be ---- how do you keep them from sticking to the smoking rack? HiTech those look AWESOME!!!!

A cold day in hell s kitchen

Nice looking fishies! I wasn't sure where hells kitchen was and when I saw your first pic I assumed it was the ocean! That angle and the slightly out of focus shot makes me a little quezzy just sitting here. Well done

    Kokanee Video Fun....

HiTeckKoke, I may regret asking this based on your screen name and my budget but what video camera do you use? You videos look really good. I've been using the video option on my at least 6 year old Canon powershot but it now has a reddish line that runs through the right 1/4 of the screen...

    Colored Downrigger weights

I vote for option #2 with the red stripe. I always figure if the scent of blood gets the sharks into a frenzy then a flash a red in the water would trigger any fish to attack. Kokes can be violent little suckers!

    Steelhead from the bank

I'm interested in trying some winter steel as well. I am assuming if folks fish the tributaries you would have a shot at fishing the mouth of the tribs where it enters the Columbia. Is that true? I'm more of a boat fisherman these days. By the way kokonuts - I joined the ranks of the...
