    Mounting a down rigger

Found the tool and rivnuts at Harbor freight for $15. Worked great, thanks for the tip. I still may need to reinforce the gunnel as there is quite a bit of flex. But tried the setup yesterday on the lake and it worked well. Thanks again, this method will half to mount some other hardware too.

2013-2016 Idaho Kokanee Fishing Reports Quick Links

Took my new boat out for the first time. Fished from noon until around 2:30. One koke in the boat and two lost. One at 10' on a chrome dodger and pink hoochie with gulp maggots (that's the one I landed) and two on the surface with small pop gear, fire corn and a chartreuse wedding ring. I tried...

That's a great idea. Where did you find them? Thanks.

    Mounting a down rigger

I can! Just read the photo posting link so I will try again. Not too savvy with this yet.

Here is the transom area as well.

    Mounting a down rigger

Here is a photo of one side. I need to mount the plate behind the snaps for my top. I also have a rod holder in the way that is riveted to the gunnel wall. Same on the other side.

    Mounting a down rigger

Dan, I have a starcraft as well. A 1992 17', I think the same boat with wide gunnels also. I just can't get to the underside of the gunnels to use bolts so I was looking for ideas. I will get some pictures posted, thanks.

    Mounting a down rigger

Trying to figure out how to mount down riggers on my new boat. It is a 17' starcraft and has rails that I could screw into, but no way to access the underside to use proper bolts. I am sure many have done this, but I would like to know the best way for a secure mounting. Thanks.

    Camas

Well, went again yesterday and it was not too hot. The temperature outside was hot but the fishing was slow. Caught 5 in the 14" range from 8:00 to 1:00. I was in my float tube again. I took a friend and I assured him that he would catch a few at least...well you know how that went. Oh...

    Camas

Sluggo, I pulled into the second "approved" road (just off the main road) and backed into a pull-out. The water was weedy and shallow for the first 5 yards, then it got deeper. As for the line, not sure as to the type, but it was sinking tip. They seemed to like a decent retrieval speed. I...

    Camas

Went to Camas today and it looks like the "footballs" are back. I was on the water in my float tube at around 8:30. Caught a few 14" fatties on a Canadian brown leach and one small planter on a Stayner ducktail. At around 10:00 a.m. I switched to a black wooly bugger. Wow, the bite was on...

F-Bomb, Thanks for the detailed reply. I agree with you on all of it. I have a heck of a time repeating my pattern after I hook up, let alolne after both riggers set off. Being by myself I can barely hold it all together, so after the madness is over I can rarely remember where I was exactly...

Well...even though L.P. is a Boise res, Vandals seem to dominate there nananana. I would agree about the kokanee killer with eyes, not a whole lot of action on those. The smooth pink one has been money. I have also had great luck in the last three years with maggots over corn, but the shoepeg...

    Lucky Peak

Fished from Spring Shores this morning from 8 until noon. Two to show for it. Both at 25' on a dodger with either a kokanee killer or a hoochie, both pink. Saw others catching but could not dial in the depth. Any idea where they were today? Got some take downs at the More's Creek inlet but...

    Lucky Peak Kokes

Boy, that one is close to spawning. They are so fun and agressive in that stage, anything pink is the enemy to them I think. I caught a few that were just turning yesterday, but not that far. Where were you?

    IDFG response

Mike, After reading your original post and F&G's response, I am perplexed. I cannot see where you invited such a response, and honestly, I have never had a conversation with anyone in F&G that had the tone of the email that you received. I would just like you to know that I saw no reason for...

    Lucky Peak, August 3rd

I finally got back on the water after 6 weeks away. Great day. Didn't get up to Spring Shores until a bit after 7:00. Went to the point across from the dock and started trolling. I have been monitoring all of the posts from afar and have been excited to know that the fishing has picked up...

    Lucky Peak Kokes

I also enjoyed meeting Kodiak and his lovely wife, always good to meet more Vandals. Fished Wed. morning early until noon. Had a friend and his son with me and put them onto fish, but they had a tough time landing them. I can sympathize with that. The hot lure was hot pink hoochie behind a...
