    I’ll add!

What has worked for me to catch pups is a small jointed Rapala trolled sort of slow.

    Gorge open water

I drove from Green River south to Manila and to the dam today. I did not stop at Buckboard only looked from the highway. The only open water that I saw was at the very end of Sheep Creek Bay and at the dam. On the way back north while near the Pipeline turn off you can see below quite a ways...

    August 9-17 Report

Bob, What surprised me this year was the fish location. As I stated above in years past you could find lots of fish south of the ranch house. And I mean large bunches of fish. For several years I have fished around that area and found basically the same situation. Every day the fish would...

    August 9-17 Report

We set up camp a little north of Anvil Draw as in years past. I have always fished probably 3-4 miles south of Brinigars ranch and found lots of fish but not this year. We found lots of fish south of the pipeline on both sides of the lake between 35 and 60 feet. The deeper fish were more active...

    October 27, At the Gorge

We caught some just flat lining with those Shad Raps because they dive sort of deep. On the down rigger one was at 15 feet and the other at 20 at about 2.2 mph. Later in the day we just flat lined pop gear as slow as the boat would run which was about 1.5 to 1.7 mph. If I tried slower the motor...

    October 27, At the Gorge

We went fishing Friday and really had some nice weather and caught some nice trout. A little cool at launch time but the sun and no wind made a very comfortable day of fishing. We launched at Buckboard and went north. There was just a little fog on the water and was not a problem with visibility...

    October 18 at The Gorge.

We went fishing at the Gorge today. Launch time temperature 28 with it warming up to 70 degrees, no wind with the water like a mirror. Water temp was 53.5 degrees. We caught several rainbows and kept 7. Some nice fish but no really large ones. Over all a good day fishing. Regards

    July 18, 2017.

What seemed to be the best was a large size Rocky Mountain Tackle dodger and as Apex suggests I just use the full length of the leader. Also if you come bring meal worms as there is a shortage in this area right now.

    July 18, 2017.

We launched at Anvil Draw this morning and traveled north about 5 miles or so and began fishing. Fishing was slow but we did catch 5 nice fish. Most fish were caught at the 50 foot depth on different colored Apex lures. Didn't get any bites at all on pink or white squid. Weather was completely...

    Fishing Report, November 4.

Yes it was a very nice day. I think that if there is at least a slight riffle on the water it's easier to catch fish but that day it was dead calm. The lake is also starting to turn over and in places there is moss floating on the water. The rainbows that we kept were very nice being in the...

    Fishing Report, November 4.

Today November 4 we launched at Buckboard and went north. There was dense fog so the going was slow but after sunup it was a beautiful day. We kept 7 rainbows and 2 very nice sized pups to make chowder with. We probably caught a total of 16 fish. What worked for us was small jointed Rapala shad...

    Jigging for kokes

About a week ago I was fishing south of Buckboard and there was a boat with 3 anglers jigging in that area and they seemed to be doing good. I have no idea as to what they were using for lures, something shinny probably. Regards

Strange thing to see at the gorge

About 4 years ago I was camped north of Anvil Draw. One afternoon a doe antelope and 2 fawns were walking near one of the inlets in that area. Suddenly the doe took off and started swimming. The fawns thought it over for several seconds, maybe a minute and started swimming also following mama...

    smallies

Rufus, I talked with a friend today and he said that the SM should be on their beds now and very aggressive. I don't know as I don't fish for bass. Regards

    New reports?

Thursday we were planning to take the boat but due to high wind fished from shore near Anvil Draw. With marshmallow and worms we caught 5 real nice rainbows. Regards, Keith

    Flaming Gorge questions

As Mtncat said your boat is fine. I sometime use a 15 foot Gregor with a 30 HP motor. One thing that is very important for fishing the Gorge however is to have a down rigger. Regards, Keith

    Gorge Report

What's worked for me real well is a jointed Rapala Shad Rap. The small one size 4 I think. Regards, Keith

    Ice conditions at Flaming Gorge

We stopped by Lucerne Marina today and the ice at the ramp was just a very thin film laying on the water. The ramp however was ice covered and slick. There were 2 boats fishing in Linwood Bay. Regards

    Ice conditions at Flaming Gorge

I drove down to the Confluence today to check for possible ice starting to form but nothing yet. A friend told me that the Firehole was iced over but this is second hand info. Regards, Keith
