    rod choice

That's what I use my 8' 6" Heartlands for, downriggers and long lining for Roosevelt rainbows in winter. I team them up with Daiwa Sealine 17s and they work very nicely.thumbsup

Has anyone fished Roosevelt since the water came up?

My wife and I were out the end of June and there was still lots of debris in the lake at that time, but we caught several nice rainbows. No kokanee that day, but we were too far upstream IMO anyway.

    Cable out performed braid

Have to agree, can't tell you how many times we've experienced this exact scenario trolling with leaded line and long line mono. One side will out produce the other even though each side is rigged identical to the other. Sometimes it's port side, and other times it's starboard. Haven't spent...

    Cooperative Kokanee

Way to go Toni! How do you prepare most of your catch - smoke 'em or eat 'em fresh? Sure would be nice to have time to slip away during the work week to chase some kokes, but not to be for us. Always look forward to reading your reports.

Best thing I ever bought for our boat!

I use GPS and a Luhr Jensen trolling speed indicator and adjust accordingly. A lot will depend on water current/wind speed, my experience anyway. As conditions change, I tweak speed. FWIW, in calm water and no wind, mine stays dead on all day.

Best thing I ever bought for our boat!

If pics of an install on an 8hp Merc 4 stroke would be helpful I'd be happy to oblige. ;)

Daiwa Sealines here, 47s and 17s, and I love 'em. thumbsup

Best thing I ever bought for our boat!

Just thought I'd add my comments as a satisfied user. Have the Trollmaster Pro II on my 8hp Merc kicker and it's awesome. Had the original Trollmaster on our previous boat and the 6hp kicker. Have to admit, the Pro II is a much nicer unit with way more adjustability than the predecessor and the...

    battery charging

One thing not being mentioned here is the difference between house wiring and marine. What the NEC says about AC conductors is one thing, and what ABYC (Amercian Boat and Yacht Council) is another. It's an apples and oranges comparison. Here's a link to a good read and some nice charts for...

    American Lake recommendations

Thanks Curt, I have an assortment of dodgers in my tackle bag, Davis and Jensen and a few others as well. I haven't had much opportunity to play with them yet, but hope to see what I can hustle up at Roosevelt on the 25th. You are very right about more dodgers and other goodies, already have a...

    American Lake recommendations

Just an update and a "Thank You" to those who shared tips. My brother and I hit American at 0530, and had a koke in the boat in less than 10 minutes. I was fishing with one of my Roosevelt leaded line rigs trolling a tandem sling blade with what is known locally here as a "St. Maries Special"...

    American Lake recommendations

Toni - You've met my brother at American and he told me you even offered a seat on your boat. Sounds just like you too. He has a 14' Hewescraft with a 15hp Merc on the back and tows with a red/maroon (I think) Dodge Dakota. We'll be there at 0-dark 30 Saturday morning. He has one portable...

    American Lake recommendations

I have been reading many of the posts on American Lake, and was wondering if someone would share some tips or make some recommendations for a fishing trip there. I'll be traveling to Tacoma next weekend and will have a chance to fish American with my brother. My favorite haunt is Roosevelt, so...

    roosevelt water level?

As of midnight yesterday, reservoir level was 1225.5' which makes Spring Canyon usable. Need another couple feet for Seven Bays to be usable yet, but at the rate it's coming up, it won't be long. Here's a link from the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area website that lists water levels and...

    Polishing my vintage aluminum boat

I have personal experience buffing an aluminum boat, and it was only 3yrs old when I did mine. If you want any tips, let me know and I'll share. I highly recommend applying Sharkhide once you're finished, it will keep your hard work looking nice for years to come. What a cool project and for...

    roosevelt water level?

You're right Mav. My brother told me about this forum, and I've been on a real kokanee learning mission of late, so I started checking info here too. I'm going to hit on the technique soon, so the more I can read and filter, the better. thumbsup

    roosevelt water level?

Yep, water levels will come up quick, and they are normally near summer level by Memorial Day. If that happens this year, that will be really quick! As mentioned, be careful on Roosevelt during the fill up phase, there will be lots of schtuff in the water that can damage motors and more...
