Your friend gave you good advise on keeping your 25. I have a T-8 and it'll idle at .7 mph. 1.2 would be no problem. The T-8 would be a good choice.

I vote downrigger as well. I do have a couple leadcore set-up though. I figure I might need them if I go with someone that don't have downriggers or they would be good to have if there is an electrical problem.

My favorite kok rod is the 7'0'' Shimano Talora. It's an awsome kokanee rod. I have a Abu 4600 c-3 on them and they work really well.
