Most guys that are successful at this lake keep pretty hush about what works. Thanks remex40 for sharing your friends report, its good to have this on the internet. Hopefully next weekend when im at deadwood I'll see 60 to 80 boats on the water instead of 40.

Over fished? Fishing in general was horrible last 4 days. We did catch some fish daily but it's the worst/slowest we've ever seen. Speratic small schools being marked but nothing impressive for that lake. Counted 35-40 different boats trolling each day, looked like a normal day at Anderson.

The real big rainbows that are not Gerrard's take years 6-9 to hit 15+ pounds, also the Gerrard's which have black down there spine and look more like a steelhead from the gill forward do not get replanted.. The others grow pretty fast an can bounce back. Everyone has the right to keep what they...

    Deadwood Conditions

Well MOST of the guys that fish DW are not on this forum, but we all agree on one thing the internet will kill off the big fish in deadwood wood. Fish & game is supposed to change harvest limits soon I hope they get on it!

Why do people keep the big rainbows? Is it just to tell everyone hey I caught one look at me.. I'm with most of the other guys on this, those rainbows are definitely special an that lake is very small considering other lakes in the state, they will be gone one day.

Herring works for some but rapalas get them every time or real big quik fish and pull them along the surface at 3mph, the Nooks like that.

Cool man! Ya they'll get big, 40plus inches for a 5-6yr old is very common. 30-40in for 3-5yr old, when they swim away after reviving in the water they will live!

    Deadwood Conditions

Good point when there bleeding from the gills! When I worked the sawtooth hatchery in Stanley a couple summers it was amazing to me how the small smolt were resiliant to being handled by net and hands, sometimes getting dropped out of tanks from going crazy but they would all bounce back...
