EPIC failure on the first re-paint attempt

I see that now, you should be able to repair it tho, just touch up the paint and dab a little D2 over it. It looks like you went chart, white, and pink or is it the pic? I think it looks fine.

What is the problem with it????

    Folk art decoys

No, these are carved out of balsa, about 6" long. Similar ones were/are apparently used for ice or spear fishing as decoys. These are not weighted or balanced and I have no idea of the position they would float, just made them for fun, don't know what I'll do with them. That is an awesome idea...

    Folk art decoys

Just painted these, they aren't done yet, but its something different, for me. I've got two more that I haven't painted yet, those will be more "fishy" lookin.

    Question on bad scents

We used to carry a can of WD-40 with us while trout fishing on Lake Washington. Before our lures went down, they would get a squirt of it - out fished the exact set-up without "scent".

    Plastics in disguise

Thanx! I have been mainly using Tamiya acrylic paint, but use Createx for a few colors because some of their colors are better. I may start to buy the Createx paints because they come in a larger container and are cheaper. For the most part, I finish them off with Etex, but on these I used DN...

    Plastics in disguise

Thank you, but I think you'd be surprised at what you could do! I have only been using an airbrush for a little over a year now (I hate to say this, but its actually ALOT easier to get good results than it looks)! There is much info online that talks you through the process. I'm getting to the...

    Bulk componets

I would try Silver Horde (is it okay to post a link here?), especially for the hoochies. They are just getting their web site going, but it does have some sections open.

    Plastics in disguise

A few more repainted lures. These were given to me by a local bass fisherman who wanted the original shapes in different colors. The "crystal craw" was one that apparently was made by the manufacturer in this lure style, but it was discontinued. He had one on his boat that "someone must have...

    Custom Built Koke Lure Dryer/Rotisserrie

Here's mine, made out of an old cooler. Has a thermostadt that controls a 100w lamp for heat, stole the rotisserie motor from my BBQ (wife hasn't noticed yet). Yeah Torres, just got back from a not long enough trip up to Orcas Is.

What epoxy are you using, Etex or D2T (I'm assuming D2t since you're not heating it)??

    A couple of different shapes

Thats are good idea, I recently just made a few that were like the J-plugs. The first are driect copies, the next I tried to make a canflefish plug, both of these have the line thru the body like the J-plugs.

    A couple of different shapes

I turned these on the lathe from poplar. The eyes are a small swivel epoxied into a hole drilled thru the body - I also hope they don't pull out!

    A couple of different shapes

I made these just to see if they could work out. I haven't swan them yet, but maybe I'll fill up the bathtub and get the wet. If I can get them to work out, I'll make some if different sizes (with better paint jobs).
