    Deadwood Conditions

The key for us was drop offs. Seemed like the fish wanted to stack up near shallow water but were about 35-40 feet down but over 70+ FOW. Wished I'd had a good contour maps so I could've followed the contour. 2 weeks prior they were 50-60 feet down in the main body of the lake in water 90+...

    Deadwood Conditions

I guess it depends on how you think about it and how you go about releasing them. For me, they go absolutely ballistic when they get near the boat. If you net them, then they get wrapped up in the net tangling hooks and prolonging the time out of the water. All the mean while they are...

    Deadwood Conditions

No. Our best was about 17 inches or so. Hooked a couple of BIG fish, but they didn't stay hooked up long enough to get a look.

    Deadwood Conditions

I was up there over the weekend as well. We arrived at the lake around midnight on Wednesday night. If you were camped on the north end and we woke you with our lights and the noise of launching the boat, I guess I'm sorry (sort of). It was amazing how much the Warm Lake route degraded...

Kokanee fishing terms. What do they all mean?

Call it what you want, I guess. I prefer catching over no catching. And it's still pretty fun when they go ballistic as they get up to the boat.

Kokanee fishing terms. What do they all mean?

So what would you call it if you were using that gear, but using a heavy 4-8 oz trolling weight (no downrigger), and fishing basically straight down or a short distance behind the boat?

Kokanee fishing terms. What do they all mean?

Good to know. That is a bit different from what another "Koke-addict" told me. To him, long-lining meant using some type of long string of trolling spinners, ie. pop-gear, FF, etc. I suspected that different people had different meanings and your response confirms it. It will be interesting...

Kokanee fishing terms. What do they all mean?

So I'm pretty new to Kokanee fishing. In the past I've only really targeted them while ice fishing. This trolling thing is pretty new to me. As I read and get started I realize there are some terms you "Koke-addicts" use that I'm not sure I understand. For instance: Long-lining. Exactly...

2013-2016 Idaho Kokanee Fishing Reports Quick Links

I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't smoke mine whole. I want to get more smoke flavor into the meat so I fillet first to expose the center meat directly to the smoke. When I have something to fillet, that is. Last trip out was bleak. It was my first time on LP, so I was actually a...

2013-2016 Idaho Kokanee Fishing Reports Quick Links

I went up for about 3-4 hours on Friday. I launched at the ramp closest to the dam. I picked up one fish in the first 15 minutes or so, just across from the ramp near the rock point leading into the first cove. It was a small fish (12 inches at the most and probably smaller), but it got off...

    Deadwood

Yes. That is how I came out. There were a few drifts that weren't shoveled out very wide, but you could get through. At the drifts there was some mud, water, and a few bumps/holes, but easily passable.

    Deadwood

Yeah, I'd definitely recommend staying home on this one....... Leave the lake for me! Fished about 4 hours on Thursday, all day on Friday, and about 4 more hours on Saturday morning. We brought home 29 Kokes averaging close to 15 inches and about 10-12 trout. Threw back A LOT of trout.
