[Ken, I just got a call from friends who are camping at Freeman. They fished near the campground for a couple of afternoon hours and put 15 in the cooler. They said they are still in good shape. We are going up tomorrow but we may run up the lake mainly because we have never done it before...

    Kone Zone?

I did very well using Kone Zones for kokanee but they caused awful line twist even after adding multiple ball bearing swivels. I finally quit using them.

Ken and Barb: Sounds like you had a great time. It was god to see you, maybe we can share a bottle of wine with you someday. We went back yesterday (Monday) and it was pretty slow. We put 15 in the cooler but worked hard at Canyon and Dicks to get them. Lots of boats, few nets. The impending...

Rick- What size were they? Last year they were about 7 inches and not very fat. Still fun, though. John

Had a much better day yesterday (Thursday). Put 42 in the cooler and lost as many. They were at 25 to 30 feet on the downriggers. Longlines didn't fare as well but those that we caught were with 2 ounces at 100 to 130 feet out. Sunburn abounds! John

We fished Canyon and Dicks yesterday. Kinda slow, 11 in the cooler. We had been finding good numbers of them at 40 to 50 feet on the downriggers but yesterday they were at 25 feet. Didn't make much sense but maybe the thermocline is changing. Anyone else having better luck?

Thanks for the report. We have had better luck than you but most of our fish have been between 40 and 50 feet on the downriggers. If you are going to try one more morning, drop down to that depth. Our longlines have been 2 to 2-1/2 oz. between 75 and 100 feet back on the line counters. John

Saturday was a good day. Fished Canyon Creek, Dicks Creek, and several places between the two. The fish cooperated at almost every spot we tried. Downriggers at 50 feet. Saw lots of nets and smiley faces. Weather was great. John

Whoa, Jumper, not the report I wanted! We landed a few at Merry's (Wednesday) and saw some landed in Canyon (WAY in). Nothing at Indian. I wish we could get a Dent/Elk report. Maybe that's my job.

As the lake starts to fill, it seems like the areas around the dam have slowed down. Has anyone ventured to Elk Creek or Dent recently? John

We fished the same area with the same results. Every boat had nets out. Most fish seemed about 20 feet down. We put about 30 in the cooler. Great fun. They began filling the lake today. Will the fishing get better????????????

We fished the dam area two afternoons last week. We caught a few but it was pretty spotty and we had wind both days.

We fished Canyon/Indian Creeks on Sunday. We had company of up to 15 boats during the day. We never saw a net come out. We ran two downriggers between 5 and 25 feet and two long lines with varying amount of weights and distance. Fishing was frustrating but it turned out to be a very pleasant...

Our annual March trip is a "cabin fever" outing. We usually get more snow in our ears than fish in the box but we have fun. We usually fish from the dam to Canyon Creek.
