    High $$$ Coolers?

here's a used 85qt yeti in boise for $300. seems like a decent deal. the problem i would have, other than the cost, is theft!! there are too many dirt bags out there that have no problem stealing whatever they come across. how many times do you leave a cooler unattended at your hunting camp or...

    Fish "Stories"

ha ha. you really dont here spangler used much anymore. i picked it up from my grandpa. people give me the "where the hell is that" look when i use it....until you say manns creek. havent fished it in about 10 years, but we used to catch a lot of nice bows trolling the shore lines.

    Kokanee Report from Andeerson Ranch

i always bleed my steelhead and salmon as well. you should always bleed your fish before you wack em. you'd be suprised how much more effective it is when they arent dead. the blood literally pulses out of them.

    question about eating kokes

i remember reading something about the white kings about a year ago and how sought after and expensive they were in the resaurants. believe it or not, back in the day, the white kings were considered junk!! my cousin said they catch them every once in a blue moon up around whidbey island. and he...

    Kokanee Report from Andeerson Ranch

idahokokanee, where did you put in and fish at? all fish we caught were still very bright and had firm meat. we were in my dads open roughneck. 150 johnson w/a honda kicker. i'm going to retract a statement i made in a different post about using snubbers. i'm going to use them next go around. i...

    Kokanee Report from Andeerson Ranch

could not believe the lack of boats on anderson today! especially being free fishing day. it was kind of nice. we boated 12 and probably lost 10!! one really thick 17" trout too. we definately had to work for them. it wasnt "not stop" action...we were out all day. marked fish all over, but...

    Kokanee Report from Andeerson Ranch

we make all our own spinners/wedding rings/hoochies and we too lose fish. some days we do, some we dont. all made with double hooks. when those suckers decide to spazz out and get airborne, or flip out at the boat, it's not uncommon to lose them. with a double hook set up and a very parabolic...

    Kokanee Report from Andeerson Ranch

what size buzz bombs did you get? if they are small enough, i bet they would work. we use them every year when we go up to whidbey island to fish for humpies & cohos. we usually run a larger hoochie right above the buzz bomb. deadly combo!!

    Kokanee Report from Andeerson Ranch

we're planning on an anderson trip next weekend. hope the bite is still on. lucky peak hasnt been overly productive lately. i'll sacrifice size for quantity right now!! plus, we havent fished anderson for quite some time.

    Crappie report

my buddy and i both on electric knives whipped through them in an hour....thats cutting ribs out too. a little practice with an electric knife and a guy can get pretty good. we dont use traditional electric fillet knives either. we use the black & decker carving knives you can get at walmart for...

    Crappie report

guys, i know it's not kokanee, but i like to keep it in the idaho section for the local guys. if you're into crappie fishing, owyhee res. is still fishing well. i think this cold front turned them off a little, but they are still biting, once you find them. we managed 110 fish yesterday. we were...

    Kokes at Anderson Ranch

thanks for the reports ken! good to see some fish being caught at anderson. havent fished it for some years, but we used to catch em like we did at lucky peak/arrowrock....size wise anyway. used to be some nice kokes pulled out. anyway, what size fish are they this year? i was thinking of...

    Pin-bone question

another good and cheap tool for prepping your kokes, is a hard bristle dish brush. these work awesome for scaling your fish. a couple strokes on each side and they are done.

    Lucky Peak Kokes 2011

how did everyone do today? we hit the water about 8am and fought the wind for the most part. we boated a few, but it was pretty slow action. most boats we talked to had about the same luck. when that wind quit it turned to glass, got hot and we couldnt buy a fish. cut our losses around noon thirty.

Newbie needs a little help for LP

also, dont expect to net every kokanee you hook. they have very soft mouths, and can break off fairly easily. just part of the game. light/ultra light rods or snubbers can help. just dont horse em in.
