This is what I did on my Jetcraft Yukon. I wanted it to be a little high due to my bad back so designed it to help save me pain & suffering. I have a friend who is very handy with metal fabrication, I weld wood... lol Good luck and try not to overthink these mounts, very simple designs win big.

I too had brackets made since my gunnels are awkward for mounting DR's. I take them off and put them on for different fishing venues.

My son and I went out on 8-25 & 26, limits by 9:30 both mornings!!!! Watch the FF and set depth accordingly and they bit on everything we put down there. Thanks Slayer, we didn't hear of any reports anywhere so opted for a road trip up to PA to fish lake Sutherland. We slayed them with limits both days by 9:30!!!! It was a great time with my son, couldn't get the Mrs up that early to even drive the boat....
