    Loon Lake Kokanee

I went out night fishing for 1st time this year. Started 9:15 pm caught 1 at 35 ft off North Shore at 9:45 pm. Not another bite until 11:15 pm. Then 9 more to make my limit by 11:50 pm. All 9" and up. All good heavy fish. This should be a better year than last year when they were smaller fish.

    Gulp

Gulp maggots I started using gulp alive maggots last year. They work great. They keep for a long time. They don't get soft in water but dont hold onto hook like a real maggots so you re bait much more.

    Green LED submersible light

Green Light No one responded so i got a green led light and tried it this summer. I put it down about 25ft in 35ft of water. The plankton are attracted to the light to the point it looks like a dark cloud. The kokanee come in and feed and i fish a glow hook with corn + maggot maybe 6ft from the...

    Spawn

? I noticed a type of duck that always shows up this time of year a feeds close to shore. I wonder if they might be eating the kokanee eggs. Is that possible?

    Night Fishing Loon Lake

People use different types of lights to attract fish. They sell what looks like an old fashion auto headlamp in a styrofoam ring. Thats the cheapest. Some build there own lights using high intensity LED light bars. Im not sure if the light attracts the fish directly or if the light attracts the...

    Night Fishing Loon Lake

I should mention if your in a kayak at night, if you dont have an anchor light of some kind someone in a motor boat could not see you and run over you. So be aware. Sometimes I'm out till midnight waiting for a bite. It's really hard to see while going home. Also I use a 5' ultra light pole and...

    Night Fishing Loon Lake

I haven't tried a drop shot rig but it might work. What I do is use a 1/4 or 3/8 oz sinker just above the swivel. Then 12" leader to a #6 or #8 glow hook cerise or white. Some use small red Ratfinkee Jig. Put lead on the bottom in 30' of water. Then come up 1 and 1/2 turns. Use maggot and shoe...

Fishing has been very slow. Fished three times, for two hours each time. Averaged about 3 bites an hour. Lucky to get 1 or 2 fish. Night fishing is zip. Went out once for two hours 8:30 to 10:30 and not one nibble.
