2021 Arrow Rock Reservoir Kokanee Report

Latest update! Took the family out yesterday, boys are off on Thursdays due to Covid, and wife was able to flex some time, so why not? Headed over to Arrow Rock and launched around 12PM, water is definitely topped off right now, dam is flowing all but 2 gates, and the best news of all, the road...

    Question for Dworshak area members

Heh, its all good! We knew what we were gettin' into when we launched from Pinkhouse, although the previous day on a guide boat showed the area was 3+ feet of water where we were heading, and my boat is good down to 18". Unfortunately, it looks as if the water was running a bit low the next...

    Question for Dworshak area members

Wow! Forgot to post a follow-up here! We did make it down to Orofino for 4 days of fishing, it was mostly fantastic! No issues whatsoever with the security of the boat, stayed at Helgeson Hotel in town, the parking was really lacking, but we did manage to slide the boat into the small lot next...

2021 Lucky Peak Reservoir Kokanee Report

I took the boat out for a shakedown about 10 days ago at Lucky Peak, didn't see any ice all the way up to Spring Shore, launched from Turner. The week before that had some light ice on top right after Spring Shore though. Planning on hitting Arrow Rock in a couple weeks if weather permits, hope...

    Question for Dworshak area members

Well, thanks for confirming that for me Cougg! Guess I'll be stripping the boat of everything and locking it up under the boat cover, as well as adding some locks on the wheels and tongue. Maybe I'll call the police station and see if I can leave it in their lot or something... Chris

    Fish finders

What don't you like about the Helix 8 you have? Just curious. I have a brand new Helix 7 and have had some things I don't like about it, but it does a nice job with down imaging and side imaging works pretty well but only down about 50 or so feet and about 60 feet or so each side. Really haven't...

    Question for Dworshak area members

Hey folks, Thinking of heading up your way around the end of February for some slimerocket fishing near Orofino, was wondering how safe it is in your neck of the woods for unsupervised boats on trailers. Planning to run on a guide boat out there one day then fish on my own the next few days...

Tis' the season for mods! Redoing the dash in my boat...

Finally finished up the boat! Well, sorta. Anyways, here's how she looks now: Got the dash all finished a couple weeks ago, wiring went well, no issues, all the switches worked and the gauges are functional, so that was good! Ended up biting the bullet on the new engine and got it installed...

Tis' the season for mods! Redoing the dash in my boat...

That's pretty good for pricing! That didn't include the aluminum frame though, right? Like BDuck, we have problems seeing the poles with the downriggers, so I'm wanting to get a taller cabin. That'll also make it easier to stand inside rather than crouching all the time! Waiting for another...

Pretty nice! If you don't mind me asking, what was the cost of that? Chris

Tis' the season for mods! Redoing the dash in my boat...

Hey, don't feel too bad, I'm looking at a new engine for the boat next month, the old '83 Merc 150 jet is down on compression (~90psi on all cylinders) and the jet pump's seal is now leaking quite a bit. I ended up using some 10A switches from Amazon, although what I really wanted was...

Tis' the season for mods! Redoing the dash in my boat...

Can never have too many of them nowadays! I have a dual usb outlet on the left side with a voltmeter between the sockets, it works well to keep phone and the IPilot link remote charged up. Got a wild hair up my arse and just decided to finish the layout of the dashboard! Just finished a few...

Tis' the season for mods! Redoing the dash in my boat...

Thought I'd spend some time working on the old Weldcraft since I won't be taking it out til Spring. The old dash was okay, but not enough switches for the added equipment I installed, and I really hate it when there's holes drilled all over the place to add extra switches!!! Now that I've added...

    Finally

Yes, you are correct. Navionics seems to have 1' contours for most areas from what I am seeing, while the Lakemaster card is 10' at best. Loaded as much content onto the Navionics card yesterday to see what it covers, it seems like they just never finished creating the overlay files for Idaho...

    Finally

Well, I just got off the phone with Navionics, not happy at all right now!!! Seems that even though their "BoatingHD" app for my android device has full satellite imagery over the sonar map, their $200 card for the Helix does not cover any other spot but Coer d'Alene (and one other lake I can't...

    Finally

Yeah, there's a bit of difference between the versions of cards from what I've found while researching for my Helix. Its all very confusing, but I will say this, the Humminbird Lakemaster V3 does NOT have as much detail as the Navionics Hotmaps card---at least for a few of the places I fish here...
