Read This Now! Pay Or Get Fined?

Amen skookum, on a side note though, I read in another forum where someone brought up birds. Of course there can be no control over it, but what about migratory birds. I wonder even if it's possible for a bird to transport the mussel. Man oh man, can you foresee duck hunters getting fee'd to...

Read This Now! Pay Or Get Fined?

I just appreciate so much Utah's approach to this problem. Utah sent out a survey to all Utah fishermen seeking input on what we truely thought would be the best way to approach this problem. We decided education was the best way. We opted out on throwing money at it. At our ramps is a self...

Read This Now! Pay Or Get Fined?

Hmmmm Bduck is right. I work in state government and the agency I work for began charging our 'clients' and extra $30 for their 'needs.' (just leave it at that). Once the state legislature found out the revenue source, they deducted the amount from our operating expense budget. I'm more...

    March 12, Flaming Gorge Kok's

skook I'm ten minutes from the boat ramp. I suppose if I wanted more, I'd head back out. Law of diminishing returns I guess. My buddy makes a mean plate of blackened mack. Plus, a good plate of burbot is hard to beat. I went with him awhile back to Yachats and Newport. What a fun time...

    March 12, Flaming Gorge Kok's

Lucerne Sorry smoke, you posted just as I was responding. The roof is on the cleaning station and some folks were working on it. No base substructure yet. I took a vehicle drive to Anvil, Squaw, and Buckboard. There must have been a 1/4 mile of open water near the farm. Motored up to the...

    March 12, Flaming Gorge Kok's

Launched at Lucerne at 1130 on Friday. Really just wanted to get the boat out. Anyway, before going I rigged with standard kok gear. I laid the poles in the bottom of the boat, figured folks would think I was nuts. Everyone (the few there were) seemed to be after early bows and jigging for...

    Save Flaming Gorge Foundation

Water level In the 20 or so years I've been around the Gorge, I've never seen the water levels so 'suddenly' high. I know we had a wet spring but I'm curious to know if the level is being intentionally manipulated high throughout the COE's study. Any speculation on this??

    Alien versus predator

With all the concerns with Burbot and Q. Mussels competing with the Kokes, I wonder if there has been any studies showing Burbot eating Q. Mussels? Just curious.

    Boats, Boats, Boats

My shuttle and boat! Under no circumstances will I trade my outfits unless it's that Riverhawk! Maybe, but no promises!

    Koke Cakes (patties/balls)

16 ounces of baked Kok. Split fish (2 or 3 pounder) into two pieces, don't worry about the bones at this point, and bake on cookie sheet or foil for 30 minutes, skin side down, at 300 degrees, (no seasonings, but very lightly sprayed with cooking oil spray) with smaller koke's it may take two...

What is your one surprise Kokanee lure?

Kok lure (well I'm hopin!) I'm hoping my investment in this lure will bring them in. Just got it, say hello if you pass me on the Gorge! Hope the pic of the lure attaches!

    Locating early season koks

Utah's DWR is 'currently' reflecting all Utah boat ramps are open (1-29). I guess you never know for sure though. I did read a fishing report where someone put in a boat at either at Mustand or Cedar Springs recently. The weather in Manila is supposed to be around 40, at least for the 10 day...

    Flaming Gorge soft/hard water

Anyone fished the Lucerne area within the past few days. Can a boat still be launched? How's the ice at swim beach? Lastly, has anyone ran through Horseshoe or is that probably iced up?

    Locating early season koks

I'm heading to Flaming Gorge the second week in Feb. Would you all suggest 'downrigging' for the shallow Koke's in the backs of bays? In reading some threads, I understand the line will need to be back 100 to 200feet behind the boat. Seems like just draggin a dodger and apex could be best...

    HELP: Downrig Stacker Question

Help me underdstand something guys in relation to stacking. So I put one line down on the ball and I stack one above it (say using a shuttle hawk or something). A kok hits the top or bottom but what keeps them from tangling at fish on. I can understand why the upper line wouldn't, but what's...
