    Lake Samish

I thought that I had the only Chamberlain releases in the state. Haven't used mine yet but glad to hear that they work as advertised.

More bad news- Depends on how you look at it

I personally spoke with one of the city inspectors by phone and he said that only boats 16' or over and boats powered by 10 HP or greater are required to be inspected. The county told me the same thing and said that the state says that the rules apply only to registered watercraft which is the...

    Lake Samish

The only boats that have to go through the inspection are boats that require registration; over 10 HP or 16' or longer. Confirmed this with the county inspection administration.

What kind of vehicle do you drive? I was looking for you yesterday to say hello but I didn't see you on the lake. Tried your worm and corn method yesterday as I left the launch and had a fish as soon as the line was out. It went downhill from then on. Do you give lessons? Just jealous and I'm...

    dam fishfinder!!

With your background of needing to be tough to survive your chosen activities, I'm not sure that I would tackle you if I were a bear. Great story.

    dam fishfinder!!

Not laughing at your experience, but at the things that go wrong for all of us at one time or another. 1. Preheated my thermos with hot water and in my rush, ended up with hot water and the coffee still at home in the pot. 2. I too have launched a boat with no plug. 3. When switching to...

    Who uses braid?

I use Tufline XD Indicator line in the 30# for my Kokanee fishing. The 30# diameter is about 12# size so it is easier to handle and tie knots with. Why do I choose this line; it is the only marked line I could find and since I was tired of counting pulls, this solved the problem. My rod is a...

    Lake Stevens ?????????

Were you fishing Lake Stevens on Wednesday or Thursday? I saw a rubber boat when I was there.

    Lake Stevens ?????????

If you don't have a down rigger, you can still catch fish. I choose not to use one and although I have to work a little harder, I just might to get to enjoy the fishing longer. You have a dodger, wedding rings and hopefully a can of shoe-peg corn. Add a 1 oz. mooching weight, 24" leader to the...

    Lake Cavenaugh

I fish out of a 12' boat with an electric motor and I don't use a downrigger. To start with, I put on a 2oz banana weight minus the lure and used my GPS to troll at about 1mph. Using my depth finder,I trolled at a given depth (30', 40') and let out line until I bumped the bottom. This gave me a...

    Lake Cavenaugh

The nudist camp probably isn't too busy this time of year! I too tried to find a camping spot and after a lot of effort, the only one I found is Squire Creek County Park, just west of Darington. Neat little park if it isn't too far from the lake for you.

    Trolling depth

Well I did the "Bump the bottom" test and I now have a reference for my fishing. Once I found out what the fish were having for lunch today, it was only a short time until my dinner for tomorrow ended up in my boat. Thanks for all the input and ideas.

    Trolling depth

"Who knows" is really what makes fishing interesting. If I were able to hit the lake and catch my limit with no effort, I'd probably have an inflated ego and then get bored after awhile. Outsmarting a fish is fun when it happens and just when it is going good the fish changes the rules and the...

    Marked fishing line

So far I've been happy with my Tufline XP Indicator line. I don't have to concentrate on pulls and it is easy to add or subtract the amount of line I have out if I decide to vary my depth.

    Trolling depth

SuperD That's interesting because that was just what I was planning to do tomorrow. The lakes I fish usually have Kokanee down to 45 feet at the most, so with my depth finder I can check line length against speed and weight to get a rough chart for future use.

    Trolling depth

I tried the downrigger route and I don't like it. The 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 ounce weight I use is not that big a drag but it takes a lot of experimenting to catch the fish that show up on my fishfinder.

    Trolling depth

Is there a chart available that gives an estimate of lure depth with inputs of speed, sinker weight and line diameter? It seems like I heard that there was a book published that had that information but I can find no reference to it. I choose not to use a downrigger and do it the easy way!

    Marked fishing line

I fish long line vs down-rigger and it was a pain to always be counting pulls to get the lure to a given depth. Since I didn't want to go to leaded-line, I checked to see what else was available and came up with Tufline XP indicator line in 30# test. ( Braided line marked each 10') The test...

    two pole option

Mossback,I respect your opinion but I too am a senior and don't fish with any electronic aids except for my GPS to monitor my speed while trolling and I don't use a down-rigger. That said, my use of two rods is my way of locating fish and experimenting with different lures, not a way to catch my...

    Twinkle skirts

Captain Downriggins has a lot of neat information regarding hooks, twinkle skirts and line twist. Thanks. Still haven't found what I'm looking for but I think Silver Horde might have them; pursuing that.
