Thanks.....as I suspected. Haven’t been there since mid February. Not sure I’m excited about jamming my truck and trailer in amongst all the other folks....I’ve seen how some of those folks can barely back their boat down the ramp let alone park their rig in a crowded mess. 🥴

That’s a long way to drive for a couple of fish. I live about a mile below the Mackay reservoir.....quick, easy and not a lot of other boats. Fish not as big as that one, but the limit is higher.

You’re probably measuring the temp at the surface or just below. The surface warms up pretty fast in the sun.

They all have different action. And you can change the action by bending em a little....or a lot. Get some different styles and run them next to your boat at different speeds and watch the action. They all work, you just have to pick the right action and color for the fishery and depth...

And don’t high stick em. I see a lot of guys standing up on their toes in their boat high sticking their rod, reeling basically over their head. If you bring em to the surface too fast close to the boat they’re gonna freak out, roll like crazy and spit that hook. Keep em below the surface...

What brand of trailer do you have? Maybe we can help if we know that. I think most will recommend 80 or 90 wt synthetic oil.

I know this doesn’t directly answer your question....have you checked with your hub and/or trailer manufacturer for their recommendations? I had oil bath hubs on one of my trailers....as long as the oil looked clean and to the right level I never changed it.
