    Line preference???

15 lb spider wire. Can't beat the added strength with a small diameter line. I think the next time I respool I'll rig all of my koke rods with fisherman's marine house braid. I love the 50lb I use for salmon.

    2014 Crescent Lake Fishing Reports

Crescent is a easy lake to fish and the fish are descent sized with a five fish limit. Fishing the usual suspects such as hoochies and dodgers as well as lake trolls will work, although I prefer not to use the bulky attractors. That time of year you'll need to get down deep. 50'-60' or so. I...

Look at What the mail man brought today! Thank you Kokanee Tackle!

I've used kokaneetackle.com quite a few times. They are awesome! My first order happened to be a few days before they moved to Portland so Joe dropped off my order in person at my girlfriend's work,(she prints some of their shirts and hats). I was so impressed I gave them a big interenet shout...

    Corn Color?

Last season I experimented with dying my corn and found that koolaid worked really well. Especially raspberry, which turned it a pinkish color. Grape worked well too. Don't ask me why. But it did out fish the natural and worked well for me.

    new reels

You will not be dissointed with the lami's. Best action I've used. Especially the red jj I have. Don't have the white but the classic glass is great too! I've caught three coho on the red jj as well. Was a great fight and plenty of back bone!

TIP for folks with a non-rubber coated net but want one.

I had the same problem with the silicone on my net that I did last year. It doesn't move through the water well either. But I suppose the rubber nets are not much better. Kokerook, have you tried the net in water yet? If it's lighter I would be interested in giving it a try on another net.

How do you tie those goldurned tandem hook knots?

Believe it or not it sinches to the eye just fine, and even when I'm using 15lb with number 4 gamis. Never had any loosen or move for that matter.

How do you tie those goldurned tandem hook knots?

I've always done it the way Dragonfly shows. Very easy and quick. Especially when tying fifty or so in a night. With larger fish I'll just add two half hitches at the end of the knot process

Kitetail "flashers" for kokanee. Anybody try them?

I ran across these a couple years ago. But not this brand. They've been using them in the Great Lakes for a long time to target chinook and coho. I always wondered why I haven't seen anyone using them here on the west coast. Maybe they've caught on in Washington. 2mph is pretty fast for kokes...

May have been discussed before: Plastidip for Downrigger Weights.

I believe the current your thinking of is caused by the cable from the DR. Not the ball. Traditionally the coated balls are for longevity. Especially in the salt. But hey, I'm sure you improved the lifetime of your ball

    other salmon

I can't wait! I had the worst luck this last summer! The two trips I made out I lost three fish and missed out on the huge run! Made up for it on the upper willamette coho though.101ok101 Sadly my beloved snow belly run isn't looking that great this year(might have to fish the Columbia this...

    After the catch

Afdan52, Add water to your ice. DLM I thought it was you I got the idea from, but didn't wanna give the credit if it wasn't. Thanks! It's worked great!

    After the catch

I use a slurry. I used to just toss my fish in the slurry but I noticed that I was indeed getting belly burn like someone on here had mentioned might happen. Since then I still use a slurry but I have a garbage bag in the cooler in the slurry with the end hanging out the top of the cooler to...

Overdone Wedding ring that will probably never work.....still fun to play around with

Kokerook you'd be surprised! Looks like it'll fish to me. I've had some down right ugly experimental lures that caught plenty of fish. Was it consistent? No. But you never know until you try. I think your wedding ring looks great!

Double hooks on wedding ring rigs?

I run 18" leader on my wedding rings and I retie them with two hooks. The 18" is for lake trolls. I'll run about 12" off my dodgers. I don't feel they need as much action imparted as a hoochie for obvious reasons.

    Merwin 2014 Post it here!

Cameron black most definitely knows what he's talking about. He's a hell of a salmon/steel guide as well. I've seen both his Mersin episodes from angler west and the guy is a talented koke fisherman IMO. Mudinchev, I saw that episode with your son. That is one lucky kid!
