1. This is a Burbot (ling) only fishing tournament. It is recommended (but not required) that you release all other fish except Burbot. Fishing will start 5 pm Wednesday 25th and end 7 am Sat. 28th. Only fish caught during this time will be counted. There is no limit on Burbot and all fish caught must be kept.
2. Participants must have a valid fishing license and adhere to the regulations for the state in which they are fishing. As a reminder the use or possession of Live Bait Fish is not allowed on Flaming Gorge Reservoir. Also, if using more than 2 lines (rods) through the ice, lines must be labeled with anglers’ name. If a person is cited for a fishing violation by a state officer his/her whole team will be disqualified.
3. A team must be registered to be eligible for prizes. Teams can register at one of the three Chambers, online, or many other locations that will have posters displayed. Teams can register prior to the derby or the week of the derby. Each team needs to designate a team captain. Teams can be 2 to 4 people. For those that pre-register or those that register at the opening ceremonies on Wednesday 25th, the entry fees are $30 per per-son 16 yrs. and over, and $5 per person 15 yrs and under. For those that register after 5 pm on January 25d the entry fee is $35 per person 16 yrs and over and $5 per person 15 yrs and under.
4. Unregistered fishermen in your party may jeopardize the validity of fish caught by registered fishermen.
5. There are no time restrictions on angling during the official tournament period. Burbot must be checked in and scanned for tags everyday during the scheduled check-in period. To qualify for prizes, all Burbot must be kept fresh. Burbot that are frozen, partially frozen, or otherwise determined “not fresh” by contest officials, will be disqualified. We recommend fish be kept in a cooler to prevent them from freezing.
6. Check points for January 25 through 27th in-clude: Buckboard Marina, Steinaker’s Motel, Manila, Cruel Jacks and will be open to receive Burbot from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Final check point on Saturday the 28h will be at the Manila Rodeo grounds and will receive Burbot from 8 am-11am.
7. After the Burbot are inspected by the check point officials all contestants will be required to remove the tails of all Burbot prior to leaving the check point.
8. At least 1 pre-registered team member must be present at “Opening Event” to finalize registration and receive team number. Teams that signup after January 25, 2012 must receive a team number from any of the Chambers prior to fishing. The team does not need to be present at “Closing Event” to win the Grand prize “tagged fish” or largest fish prize. At least 1 team member must be present at Closing Event to win other prize categories and drawings for prizes. There will also be drawings for those who attend the final event even if they are not registered as part of the tournament.
9. For your safety, each team must have a throw rope and ice picks. A cell phone, floatation device, and cleats are also recommended while fishing through the ice.
10. All registered fishermen must sign an affidavit agreeing to comply with all derby rules and a waiver.
11. Derby Committee claims no responsibility for accidents relating to ice or road conditions or anything else related to the Derby.
12. You will need Recreation Use Pass for the duration of the Event.
13. Tournament officials reserve the right to conduct checks to ensure the contestants are following the provisions listed above. Any disqualified contestant(s) will not receive a refund of tournament fees or be qualified for any prizes.
