we were at GP July 16 to 20, fishing just OK with 27 fish from 5 fishing outings (about 4 hours each), the fish seemed to be spread out in smaller schools than expected, 45 to 60 feet, and we had lots of weather changes that seemed to come up right when we were consistently boating fish....changing colors and corn scents (XXX, garlic, anise, pink p. nectar...) just didn't seem to be enough to overcome the rough weather: when the bite was off, it was off....

Fished GP July 20th. Rain in the morning and wind all day. Put 20 in the boat. Fished from 7:30 - 4pm. 40-55 ft and we used everything. Blue and purple hoochies worked best. Corn in tuna oil worked best.

Must have lost 10 fish at the back of the boat. Fish comes to the surface and goes balistic and gone...or gets hit by the net and gone...no problems neting salmon, but these little balistic fish are giving us problems. Any recommendation?

Slowing your boat as rain said will help, also I have seen people bring fish in way too quickly, take your time, wear them out.2cents

I was thinking of going up myself. Weather is supposed to be hot so I'm sure the mid-morning/afternoon winds will be strong. Also the Oregon Jamboree is going on this weekend so Sweethome will be a mess. Don't mean to sound so glass half empty the fish will still be there and if it gets to hot you can always swim. signfishin

We went up yesterday. No problem launching at 8am. We fished from 8-2pm and landed 35. Released about 10 little ones that we could. Water was great no real wind until we got off the water at 2pm. We fished the channel east of the island. Were constantly getting waked by by the weekend warriors but the fish were biting. It was sure cooler than back down in the valley.

Fished GP on the 4th of August and we landed 29 fish most of the fish were around 10 to 14 inches tried to release some smaller ones but you know how that goes, with double hooks no so well. I can all my kokes so with some small ones they will be just fine. Also had the chance to fish on the 10th of August and did better with more good size fish than small ones landed 59 fish with 3 rods bigger fish all around 65 ft deep. Caught them west of the island and towards the middle of the lake. Will most likely be back on the 17th .The fish are still in good shape and we have lost the full moon for now. FISH ON !signfishin

Economy Supply in Lebanon now has Chamberlin releases.

the best release I've ever used

Once you use them you'll never go back great when you fish with your kids you don't have to watch your poles as close for strikes because they pop when the fish strikes and that means the kids get to grab the pole right away instead of you having to pop it loose for them when the pole pops loose you always have a fish on. they are FANTASTIC Releases.

Fished GP from 8 till 11 on Thurs. 8/16. Caught 16, average size 10" or 11". White crappie tube w/ double hooks behind dodger with silver and gold prism tape at 55' to 70'. Flashers on DR ball, and 12' setback. West end of island towards mouth of Quarts Creek. Stayed in the same area all morning no need to move. They appeared to be catching fish on the other side of the island as well.

We fished GP thursday 5:30 to 1:00 boated 27 some nice 13" in the bunch between island and outhouse 50' to 60' my kids Ben 9yrs Danae 12 Yrs were netting the fish so we lost a few at the boat but they were having fun and learning the tech. of netting we had a lot of fun. As always running Vance Gold Dodgers on all three poles all poles were busy all day more than I could do to keep up them. Danae is a good fish cleaner when we got back to Sunnyside all good experiences for the kids. Used orange micro hoochies with my special coloring proccess orange, pink, chart glow spinner were the hot ticket.
