View attachment 5532Fished GP monday the fishing was good all day fished around the island 48-65' using gang troll,s & red & orange wedding rings. Had my wife & daughter along & theay both did real good we kept 58 of some of the best eating fish there is fish were between 10" to 13" we released the small fish that were lip hooked.

Haven't fished GP since June and have been trying to find a hole in my schedule for a run up there. I notice that everyone seems to be fishing around the Island. In the past I have had better luck down near the dam this time of year, has anyone worked that end of the reservoir? Has the water level dropped quite a bit?
Hope to see you on the water soon!

Can anybody tell me if u can camp along the bank and park ur boat? I know about quartz creek road just would rather be on the bank jump in and go. Another forum said 200' from the bank. Is this true?

There are several campsites along the paved road but access to the lake from those is limited because of the steep banks. There are lots of campsites around the lake that are only accessable by boat. The lake is dropping pretty fast making some of them hard to spot but they are on both sides and pretty private.

I fished last Sun up at GP. Just me and the dogs. Took home 19 nice fish and released a few more. Most were caught at 65-70ft using a gold Sepp's dodger with a pink hoochie and a copper blade. This has been my go to setup. I was fishing east of the island and when the wind came up I just threw out the sea anchor and turned off the kicker. Worked great as the wind blew me about 1.2mph. It made it easier when I got doubles to bring them without having to control the boat also.

Fished go Saturday. Morning bite was real hot from 5:30-8. Got two more drive bys in about 15min. After that nothing. Bite shut off. Threw everything in my tackle at them. Tried various depths.... nothing. Most everybody I talked to said the same thing. Still nice bright fish. Rangedfrom 10-13"

Do you put the anchor out the back ? and if you do does it get in the way at all? don't have one but was thinking about one maybe?

We went up thurday caught 40+ kept 38 fished next to island about 100yard off the south shore. We were fishing 50' to 65' we were using vance gold dodgers and Cascade Mountian Tackle terminal gear caught most on dakota spinner pink and orange micro hoochies. Took boss he said it had been a long time ago he caught so many fish all in one day.

Great job, was there a lot of ramp left with the water down? Were you able to see the end of the ramp? At the end of the ramp there is a concrete stop that has caused me problems in the past not letting me put my trailer down as far as I want to.The fish you caught at GP looked good to me keep on ripping! Would love to hear a report on the boat ramp thanks

Launched today with no problem, only about 6 feet of dock is near the water, not in the water, just close enough so one boat can tie up to it.

If anyone is going up tomorrow, go up quartsville arm, past the floating restrooms to the first big bend to the right, then fish the bend. 60 feet, 1.3mph and orange. Lot's of 11.5 fish ,may be larger fish further up stream but I did not go up there. All those that I caught this morning were fat and bright.

Thanks for the reply. So how long are the ropes for the anchors? I have a long handle on my net but maybe not long enough to get beyond the anchors.

My ropes are 4-5' so the anchors are just in back of the stern. When landing fish I just bring them up to the side of the boat. Keep your rod off to the side and you should have no problem. The last trip out I was by myself and used a shorter handle on the net so I could still hold the net and the rod. I had no problem landing fish with the anchors in the water. I even landed three doubles by myself. That was fun.

Hey thanks for the info. I am heading to GP on the 15th has any one fished this past week? Just wanted to know about the ramp and the water level.

Whitcomb is good yet not sure about Thistle.
Hey thanks for the report. I went on Saturday, and put in at the first ramp you come to I think it is Thistle? Had to drive around the first ramp and had no problem at the second one.We landed about 50 fish, and took home about 36. Not to bad of shape and size either.12 to13 inch were the biggest, not as big as last year that is for sure.So does any one have a theory as of why the fish are so much smaller this year? Do they run in cycles? So you put in at the ramp with the plastic floats all bunched up around the entrance of the ramp ? What is up with that ? We have a perfectly usable ramp that has really crappy access from the water and from the ramp because of the floats that are in the way ? Is that ramp usable in low water conditions ? If not I can understand why they don't mess with it . Thistle is usable in really low low water. Well happy fishing and thanks again for the report.

To many fish and not enough food supply I,ve never seen so many fish at G P in as many years. My suggestion is we fish all winter and get some of them out of there maybe they will be bigger next year if we can thin the population down a bit. If you been fish up there lately you will find an overpopulation of next years fish. I fished Friday and caught an easy 46 at 70' still a lot of fish to be had if you don't mind catching smaller ones most of the bigger ones are heading to the spawning beds. Still using Vance Gold Dodgers and Cascade Mountain Terminal gear
with a fish count of 423 in 10 trips to GP . and also very successful at Wikiup up until the end of July with a fish count of over 150 in 5 trips.

Well thanks for the info. So the smaller fish that are in great shape are next years fish? Is that what you are saying? I would be into fishing all winter for them, but I am have a tough time not trying my luck at catching a chinook at the coast once, twice, three times,or more. Maybe I will have to hit GP before chinook season really starts up,then the Backupcruiser will be able to play with my new downriggers at least one time before the end of the year.Well thanks again for the report and keep them coming. Oh and by the way the smilie Is for the Backupcruiser.violinviolin
