Thanks for the report. The Idaho fish and game stocked 5,553 chinook fingerlings 3-6 inches on 06-04-2015.
That is a great growth rate! The fish stocked in 2013 should be impressive this year. What was the water temp? Might head up tomorrow at o light hundred.

38.5 to 39.5
Good luck, look forward to the report

Went out on Friday Weather was nasty but it felt good to be fishing again, Launched at S.S. at about 9:30 only boat out from there. I ended up catching 4 got in to one big school just across from the launch, There running about 14 this early and not quite the fighters we are used to its still cold surface temp 40. I'm going to give them a few weeks before I head up again boy I need to knock the rust off took me forever to get my riggers out, Oh and they were in 10 - 15 feet.

Ok I went up today and was on the water by 7:30. Caught and released 3 nice trout before I caught my first Koke at 12:30.
Landed a total of 4 kokes all day. The good news is they were all 16" . It seems as if there will be fewer fish but they will be good ones when we get em. Beautiful weather water temp was 39-41.5. Pink was the color and they were really hard to find.
I caught fish at 20,30,35' and the last one was caught on a long line 150' back.
Pulled large rapala style lures and large squids around at various depths all day but no chinooks.
By the way Curlew ramp is open. Good luck!

Three chinook, one 3 lb rainbow yesterday an one big bull trout. 5 kokes last Sunday zero yesterday but the water temp dropped back below 41 an wasn't targeting the kokes yesterday. Slow bite overall, getting better.

April 1 fish day

Don't have a fish finder. Expected them near the surface but I'm guessing 15-25' is where we hit most of them.

I would like to know how much weight and how far out your lines were when you were catching them? I'm planning on going out 4/1 for the first time. I assume you were fishing by the dam? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Glad to hear the fish are a little bigger this year.
Thanks

stevec, I'm glad I read your comment, and will try to help. Launch at Big Eddy, then start fishing Merrys Bay, fish the shoreline on the far side. If that is not productive go to Indian Creek, and Canyon Creek, which is always good Kokanee fishing. Let your lines out exactly 60', start with a 3oz. banana weight, but you may need anywhere from 1 oz. to 4 oz. put a snubber between the banana weight, and the gang troll. For terminal tackle use pink/red squids, or wedding rings with a 12" to 20" setback, Bait with red shoepeg corn (scented). Trolling speed 1.0 to 1.8. Keep a sharp eye on your sonar. I have fished Dworshak using other setups, but this one will always put a lot of fish in the boat. Just one thing, don't tell anyone, this is just between us.

stevec, what kenbarb said (thanks). We used 2oz of lead and went out 45-60' or 1oz of lead 90' on light tackle with 3" attractor. luck to you; and please post how you did. Thanks!

Water level is coming up fast. Showing a large number of fish on the screen, looks like we are going to be in for a good year (fingers crossed).
