I got a call from my son-in-law yesterday. He wanted to know if I would take him and my grandson fishing. What is a guy to do? I acquiesced. We got on the water at Wickiup at the crack of 10:30 and fished until 2. The fishing was decent at first but slowed. The best news is I got my 2.5 year old grandson into his first fish. He kept saying he was glad I had a boat. He also liked going fast.
An orange hoochie behind an orange Wild Thing dodger was working at first. Later we caught fish on both a pink hoochie and a supermicro double glow pink hoochie behind uv pink Sling Blades. A Fish With Gary watermelon set-up was also productive. After going almost 10 year without catching a rainbow in Wickiup, I caught my second this year on the FWG system. It was beautiful 20 fish that as released. The biggest fish was just over 17 and weighted 1.8 lbs.
