We got up the Gorge late Friday night. Had a very slow day on Saturday-we thought kokes would be deeper and started out in a couple areas from the past-(down south). After talking with some fellow members of this forum, and a call to my friend Gulfstream, we had it all figured out today-and had our hands full-(Chinese fire drill). I have always tried to get my brother and his wife up to Buckboard and they were very skeptical as they like the Utah side. Saturday they were wondering if we knew what we were talking about. After watching us all morning today, they saw the potential on the Wyoming side.
We ran lines today in a big circle at the bend and ran into a spawning extravaganza. We were able to catch 4 spawners-got 3 of them right back into the water-and picked up some nice kokes for the smoker. We were running 48-53 feet at 1.7 MPH with Bahama Mamas, shattered dodgers, and fusion blades. We were also using something new to us-RMT pink Ospreys, they were killing it along with Christenson's pink hookers and RMT viper spoons. We were off by 12pm with 11 boated, many lost hits, and a heart breaker for my wife-she had a nice one within 8 feet of the boat and almost in the net before it shook the hook loose. Looking forward to finishing out the season on Labor Day!
We had a great time!
