I wasn’t feeling to well so I stayed close to home fishing Clear Lake (Pierce County). I started at 9:50am and finished 12:40pm. It rained the whole time I was fishing and I only got bites when it slacked off. It was hard to find the fish, too. The 4 ospreys and 2 eagles were out. The ospreys would get the fish and the eagles would try to steal them away. It was very interesting to watch. I had 2 bites on a Bloody Mary at 10 feet right off but then it was ssllooww. Really I am use to getting them fast so I suppose this is what normal is. I switched out lures a few times. Found that I got a few more hits on a yellow splattered dodger and a Wannafish A Lure yellow Squiddy Thang with a hammered nickel blade at 25-30 feet. Any where from 40-90 feet of water. I used bait of shoepeg corn and Berkeley maggots. Except for the first 2 bites I did not have any fish hit shallow. I came home with 3 kokes and a lot of rain water. I had my rain coat on but no rain pants.
We were so wet I thought I was going to start bailing the water out of Old Girl (my boat).

Where is the Summer!!

I am still waiting for the summer!! What Happened ? I also got good and wet on Sunday at Lake Merwin but held out for the 10 fish limit for me & my fishing buddy!
They ran up to 15" and fat! Merwin is still going strong but it takes a little longer than a few months ago. I think the rest of July & Aug. will be very good as the fish start to get more aggressive!
We were fishing at 30' to 40' and used Hoochies and a pink & white Spin & Glow. The S&G got most of the fish , it was the hot ticket for the day! Glow is the word now. Also the fish have seemed to have moved closer to the Dam, & from the middle of the lake to the south side. Still not using corn just the pink Berkley maggots!

See you on the Water! Kokonuts

Thanks for the report Kokanee-Toni, and I agree with Kokonuts it sure wasn't summer this weekend.

Thats NO JOKE!

While Kokonuts was out on Merwin I was out on Yale, evidently the weather report I watched was WAY WRONG!! It came down in buckets and sideways. I had invited a friend to go with the kids and I, she hardly ever gets to fish so we toughed it out for a while, it was like fishing in a squall for a while. Waves crashing and spraying over the bow and in the turns the boat was pitching pretty hard, made it difficult to even stand. Still managed 8, the only good thing is I put the new pro troll 2 controller to the test of all tests and it worked awesome! After about 3 hrs of our own version of "the deadliest catch" everyone was soaked and ready to call it quits.
