The forecast was to be in the 50’s and mostly sunny. It was sunny but it was a frozen morning to start. I didn’t start fishing until 12:20pm and finished around 4:00pm.
There were not many boats out. I tried many different things including using lures with double blades, all new products. I only got 3 bites with zero fish. I was surprised that I didn't see any trout. They planted close to 10,000 recently. I only saw 2 fish rise.
I know of 4 people who had like results. BUT then I get home and someone ;-) sends me a picture of kokanee caught by someone at American today. Maybe they do bite in cold water.

Im sure they do! Thanks for the report. We are heading out to the lake around 7:30. Well give it a try too. If the weather keeps like this we may actually get a spring and the water may rise in temps yet!

Early in the season the Kokanee are normally running in the top 20 feet of the water column. Did you try running your gear 60 to 90 feet behind your boat and fish in the top part of the water column? Also I find it helpful to lower your speed because the kok's will be lethargic. Also I find fresh water scents seem to work better early in the season.

Today I was fishing by 10:50 am. I headed toward the Vet Hospital with intention of trolling back and forth in front of the North Launch. I was about 400 yards from the shore by a wing of the hospital when I got my first hit. Then it hit again. Wow, I thought surely it is there. But no, it was gone. I was using Dick Nite Pink Splatterback dodger and a lure I put together. I turned around and went back through again but didn’t get another hit. The sun was shining with some hazy clouds but the wind started to blow hard enough that I made my way to the island not getting to the North Launch. I only stayed 2 hours.
