Morning all,
I have never fished American but hope to real soon.
Can someone tell me about the lake such as exit off I-5 (Southbound), boat ramps, suggested areas?
All input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Don

There is a for pay launch off Gravily lake exit. Take Veteran's drive and it will be on the left when you get to the lake.

Next exit South will take you to the free launch on the other side of the lake. Not sure if the Discover pass is required.

Free Launch

Hi,

I also plan on fishing American this year, would you recommend launching a 19' (Custom Weld) sled at the free launch?

Thanks for any info

John

Boat Launch Fail

We All have a mistake from time to time. EvenI myself make mistakes at the boat launch. 2 or 3 times I forgot to put in the drain plug. I even slipped off the trailer tounge once. I've been a pro since 1971. Look at Bill Dance's record.

You mean he didn't share his story during the Barbecue event? 101sweatinit101

There were a few people that heard the story, but I was too busy with the group and it wasn't about me ..thumbsupthumbsup

I was getting ready to launch the boat and I got all the straps off. I have to take the winch strap off to tie on the bow rope. It was my turn to launch and I took off and didn't realize that I hadn't put the winch strap back on. I have NO idea how the boat did not fall off the trailer before, I had to correct myself a couple of times backing up.. ( I am still not that good) I finally got to the point of where I was going to push the boat in the water. When I was getting out of my van I heard the boat roll off the trailer (rollers) and into the water. No harm done, but for the ego..

Well...as long as we're on the subject.
First launch of the new (to us) boat up at East Lake around 9 or 10 years ago. I back the boat down the ramp into the water and the dam thing wouldn't come off the trailer. Back and forth i went...thought i needed to go back farther and kept going until the boat was finally floating. Problem was the trailer was still attached!! Well. at that point i figured the side bucks that i had installed earlier in the week were too tight against the boat so i removed them and tried again. After a few more failed attemps we noticed the straps holding the boat to the trailer never got removed...opps!! 101shock1101

Thanks for the ramp info...

Yes, Ive left the plug out a time or 2 also. Best one was borrowing a neighbors old Glaspar and running over to Jeff Head, didn't realize the boat had 2 plugs!
Wondered why it wouldn't plane very well coming in...kinda heavy getting back on the trailer too..that's when we saw the gusher coming out and almost tipped it over going around a curve coming out of Shilshole. Awe, fond memories

By the way, Stevens is no good this year either nananana

eenakok,
Thanks for sharing the boat launch story. I think most of us have a couple. At least it slid into the water and didn't drop onto the ramp. We did a similar thing with by friends Fiberglass Bass Boat years ago at the Offut Ramp but the the stern hit the concrete before it slid into the water. Not a pretty sight with Fiberglass Construction. As yes, I have a few "Forgot to Install the Plug" stories as well. laugh hyst
