Someone decided they deserved my stuff more than I do. They stole my near and dear to me and quite expensive Fisknat net, as well as a Spiderwire box full of every lure I have ever onwned. It happened either when I was on my way to get the truck and trailor or at the only light that stops my truck from the lake to my home. Berkely blinking light. This was at the free boat launch on the SE of the lake. The two items where in the back of my boat. For some damn reason I decided to not put everything in the bow hatch before I beached. I ALWAYS do that. But not this time and it cost me. I am so tired of these kind of people. I have worked really hard for what I have and now that I am layed off un-employed, poor college student I have more appreciation for what I have. Which makes it suck that much more when things are taken from you. Any way, aside from no longer being able to fish for a while I will live. Enough of my rant. Just use this as a heads up.

I have a simple fix for thieves, but every one tells me its inhumane......

Post as many details as you can so those of us who frequent craigslist and ebay can keep an eye out.

Sorry.........

What were your "go too" lures? If I have anything similar I will send you a few to start rebuilding. I have lots of beads and just ordered a big bag of new hooks I could probably make you a few as well, what colors you like I will see what I have.

The box had about 15 or more un-opened Mack's micro smile blades, hoochies and wedding rings, as well as a yellow and black lure roll that held about 15 or so lures. There was one rapala in the box (usually in another bass box) that was brand spankin new. it was full of used wedding rings of evry size and color. The most unique feature of the box is that it is a Spiderwire box with one latch missing, as well as the yellow and black lure roll. The singled out rapala should be a give a way as well. I could barely close the box it was that full of lures. Makes me so pissed. I dont know how they had the balls to watch me walk away and grab it cause i was sporting a t-shirt that didnt exactly conceal my 1911. Im just so happy that they didnt swipe my box of dodgers which was in close proximity. Or anything else for that matter.

Edit: Fisknat is a local custom net maker. I am close friends with the owner/operator and I know that theres VERY few of us in WA with a fisknat. Most of his sales are in the mid-west. It is a name mostly known to the fly fishing community. If I see some gangtsa bum jack ass at any of the parks sporting a Fisknat net soaking some stolen powerbait there will be words. Please keep an eye out for this stuff fellas. If anything please keep an eye out for your own stuff. We dont want people thinking that us anglers are an easy score. I screwed up today. It shouldnt have happened.

How long were you away from your boat getting the trailer? It seems their window of opportunity would be pretty small.

I am always concerned about something like this. It's a pain when camping to pull all the stuff out and lug it back to camp each evening, but it must be done if you want to fish in the morning.

Hint to all: Take the time to lay out everything in your tackle box and take some pictures. It may help you get some stuff back and/or deal with the insurance company. (and if you want to post those pictures here, we will keep your secret stuff just between us)

Having your gear stolen from some punk *ss loser is just plain wrong.

Chris, somehow I hope you get your gear back or even better this moron has

thier fish catching abilities revoked for a long time..

I walked to my truck, (trusting my fellow anglers) and hit the restroom (too much coffee) and hoped in the truck. Was a good 2-3 minutes. The average home invasion is around 7-8 minutes they say and thats long enough to ruin a life! I hear what your saying though. How bold one must be. A friend said that karma has a way of getting back at these people but I believe they are in the hell they created already. If one must have to resort to stealing then they must be living a rough life as it is.

I couldnt possibly ask you guys to give up some of your lucky lures. I would offer many times over to anyone of you as well though. I appreciate your kind hearted gestures! My family says they will help out to re-supply my stash as they know what fishing means to me. As with many of you, its my life. (when school allows lol) Thank you guys again for the offer. Perhaps the one youd have given up will catch you the big one!

Chris,
Sorry to hear that.
But I was taking out the other day, fishing by myself, and noticed a couple of guys just taking there time at the launch putting there gear away in the back of their truck right on the ramp, who does that?!? Right then my "spydy sense" says don't leave to get your rig until they leave......Man did I have to wait, walking around in circles in my boat. Usually, regular fishermen ask how fishng was and if you got any, not these guys, they just took there time, sneaking a look over at me. Finally I just packed everything away, which I usually do when I take my boat out of the water, as to not tie up the ramp. Luckily there wasn't anyone else waiting to take out. You don't like to think like that, but you never know.
Send me a PM with your address, I've got plenty of hooks you can use, I might even have some flourocarbon lying around for leader material if you need.

Take it easy,
Winterun

take a 3 gallon gas can , fill it with gas and a jar of caro syrup, write PARK SERVICE on the side and REGULAR UNLEADED ONLY. Leave it sitting where they can see it. P.A.B.

So sorry to hear that you got hit by the thieves. I was at American Lake today too, and it could have easily been me. Perhaps someone saw something odd. What time of day did this occur?

Fishing Gear

Chris, I replaced my two year old net this winter. It's not as good as the one that got stolen, but your welcome to the older net. It has a 4 foot handle and a 24" Hoop. The hoop is a woven mesh, but you could spray it with a rubber coating. It's priced right- Free if you need it.

Chris...let me know if i can help in any way. I've got a few extra lures laying around and a ton of lure making supplies. Shoot me a pm.

All of you are awesome! I cannot ask that you give up your own stuff because of my error! For the time being I shall use my stealhead/salmon net and I have already made a trip to Sportco with a friend. I managed to get a few of my favorites and a couple I have been wanting to try. Its not as much as I had collected over the years but you bet Ill do my best to catch a koke on this stuff! I can tell by the amount of kind gestures from you folks that I am in good company here and cant wait to see you on the water. All of you rock! Just to know that there a few of you guys out there keeps me from being to upset with fishing American. Again, thank you all for the kind hearted gestures!

What time?

What time of the day was it? Was there anyone hanging about? Was there some people fishing off the shore?

I always have to leave my gear to go get the trailer. I have only had a pair of pliers taken off the side of my downrigger stand but that was at Clear Lake.

I was there today also. In the morning.

It was around 10:30-11 when I decided to leave. The boat launch was quite busy. There also where a handful of anglers on the shore. I just cant imagine how they can just do that right in front of other people. Although I must say that I dont really pay attention to anyone else while Im getting ready to launch or take out. Just a bummer. Yesterday afternoon I converted one of my bench seats into a seat/compartment for gear. Now I have no excuse to leave anything out. With the bow decked and hatched as well as a full length bench/hatch theres plenty of room to stow away gear.

I feel for you. That bites as there is ABSOLUTLEY nothing worse than a thief. My truck got broken into a couple years ago at Clear Lake. The Crack Heads didn't find anything of value in the cab but I still had to go through the hassle and expensive of getting my passenger window replaced. Sent you a PM.
