Well heres my first report. Took the boat and a friend to Anvil Draw Sunday. It wasnt my best day....I hooked a couple Kokes but lost them, trolling with pop gear and worm rig... but my friend caught his limit. We did some casting in a few coves and he landed a couple rainbows that he released to fight another day.
I on the other hand couldnt land a fish. I hooked a few smallies, and a koke using a Northland live forage replica. They loved that thing but I could not set a hook.
Funniest thing....While casting and sitting up front with the bow mount trolling motor....this one rainbow kept swimming alongside the boat for a bout 30 minutes. I dropped a jig by him and he'd swim to the left side of the boat...then to the right side. Funny as hell!

Trackerg, you need to learn that puppy dog look so your friend hands you his rod every once in a while.

SuperD....this is the second week in a row..that this has happened....My loving wife (she's my favorite fishing partner) offered to let me reel one in when she hooked one. I politely told her to kiss my.......lol...well it took my wife to figure out what I was doing wrong....running about 80 feet of leadcore line with 12 ft of flouro leader. Not much stretch in that braid....her and my friend were both using strait flourocarbon line. I believe that she is correct so I will try using a snubber this weekend.

Trolling pop gear on lead core? Ya gots ta have a snubber!

Thanks for the report Trackerg! Were the smallies agressive? They should all be pre-spawn with the water temp in the low 50s. Better luck next time and BE NICE TO YOUR FISHIN PARTNER. She just might teach you something?
